FolderGuard X specifications

What's new in version 2.5.2

  • FolderGuard now skips over the hidden "Icon" files used by the system to store folder custom icons. As a result, the program should no longer make Icon files visible when unhiding folders.
  • Results of Mass Reveal are now reflected by the main window, so if a folder that was previously hidden is inside a folder that the user uses Mass Reveal on, the folder state is now correctly updated to Visible.
  • Synced the OS 9 version with the OS X version 2.5 codebase, fixing a number of bugs and adding new features to the OS 9 version, listed below:
    • Uses strong 448-bit Blowfish encryption
    • Folder list allows multiple selections
    • Displays number of items; number of invisible items; and number of selected items
    • Expanded folder info
    • No longer attempts to hide or unhide items on locked volumes, which would result in a hang
    • Folder list is now sortable by name or by visibility status
    • A folder can now be shown in the Finder through FolderGuard
    • Optionally write failed and/or successful logins and other special operations to log file
    • By default disallows volume hiding. This feature can be turned off.
    • Optionally auto-unhide folders when removing them from the list without displaying a warning
    • Missing folders are displayed with an error icon on launch, and the application no longer attempts to hide them.
