Version: Folder Protector 1.1
"I feel I can't trust it"
Pros: Easy to use, pleasant interface.
Cons: Wouldn't hide some folders, seemingly dependent on name.
Summary: The program wouldn't hide some folders, seemingly dependent on name . Eg. - it wouldn't hide 'businesses', but change the name to 'firms' and then it worked.
Wouldn't consistently re-display hidden folders.
Leaves stuff behind on uninstall.
On hitting 'display folders', sometimes not all hidden folders would show.
Request 'display' again, and up they popped.
I felt I couldn't trust the program not to permanently hide my folders.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, several times, but the performance was identical.
On first installation the program requests an 'uninstallation password' ( a good idea, since an unauthorised uninstall while folders are hidden would cause the loss of those folders ), and a normal operational password.
However , on re-installation these passwords are not requested, but retrieved from somewhere and re-used.
In other words the uninstaller doesn't uninstall fully, which I consider sneaky and unnacceptable.
If in future someone decides to try this program again on this computer, but has lost or forgotten the original passwords, the program will be un-usable, and the uninstall function unavailable.
I would like to use this program, but I feel I can't trust it.
I would like to FULLY uninstall it, but it won't do that.
