"Great! And it's free!"
Version: Folder Guide 1.2
Pros
Easy to use. FIgure it out in about 4 minutes from A-Z. Can't believe it's free.
Time saver! So far replaces my broken folderview program. A Godsent!
No kidding.Cons
None that I can see. Kind of miss my little icons my old program would put at the top of windows explorer for easy clicking but not a big deal.
Summary
Nice. This is what I've been looking for since folderview a program I use to use but kept crashing since they haven't updated it for years. So painsakingly I've been looking for a replacement. And I believe this is it. I would of easily paid for a replacement for my folderview and can't believe this is free. Kudos to the author of this program!
Definitely a plus to saving me soooo much time. As the other guy said I can't believe Microsoft hasn't built something like this for windows. Don't know how much time people spend in trying to dig way down in a folder to get where they want to go. Or less forget where they were and spend "forever" trying to figure that out.
Definitely got to try this. It will save you soooo much time!
Good luck. -
"Great Program! Excellent for projects and work."
Version: Folder Guide 1.2
Pros
-Fast, Simple and Functional with no memory used and minimal app size
-Great for your projects and folders buried deep in your directories
-Great for work ! I got the entire office using it.
-Reduces desktop and quick-launch shortcuts and icons!!Cons
-Cannot add separators, which is my only real gripe.
-Cannot access "My Computer", and does not work inside it
-Cannot access any removable media such as flash drives or CD/DVDs
-Haven't seen an update in a long timeSummary
This program is an amazing time and frustration saver. No more digging through folder after folder, especially if you accidentally close one that is buried well within your directories. How annoying having to double click folder after folder, without cluttering your desktop or quick-launch toolbar with many shortcut icons. This has been a godsend for my 3d projects and at work with accounting at work. This is one program that is an absolute must have utility for windows xp or vista, both of which work perfectly fine.

As said with another user, not enough options (separators!!!), no real home page or developer information and no updates for a long long time. This will not however stop me from using this. Thank you to whoever made this program, you have shaved hours upon hours of my time.
Updated on Jul 31, 2009Update:
-Confirmed 'broken' or working but not properly or as originally intended on Vista 64-bit.
Confirmed NOT working at all on Windows 7 64-bit edition.
-Original author confirms updates are unlikely.
Please visit http://www.freeware365.com/desktop/folderguide.htm (proceed at own risk) and let the author know you want an updated fully Vista/Win 7 & 64-bit compatible version!! -
"The speediest way of navigation!"
Version: Folder Guide 1.2
Pros
Overall, it really speeds up my normal ways of navigating to my desired folders.
It does provide fast access to my frequently used and favorite folders with very few clicks.Cons
Its configurable options are too limited.
When open or minimized, its icon stays in the taskbar, thus taking up space on it. It would be more helpful if there is an option to place it in the system tray as well or hide it altogether. -
"Good program."
Version: Folder Guide 1.2
Pros
Gives you access to frequently used folders with a simple right-click.
Cons
No cons to mention.
Summary
I like the idea, but I just don't use it as much as I thought I would. I will keep it installed for a few more months to see if it starts working its way into my workflow.
