"Fast, but cumbersome and has problems"
Version: FlashGet 1.9.6.1073
Pros
Fast and persistant on downloads
Cons
Takes some getting used to, but the APPCRASHes to IE8 made up my mind to uninstall it.
Summary
Used this for a couple of weeks on my Vista 32-bit Home Premium SP1 and kind of liked the 5-threaded downloads that was quicker, but then I started to get APPCRASHes to IE8, and in a couple of other apps I recently downloaded which may or may not be associated with FlashGet, but it's made me suspicious. Having read some of the more recent reviews I've decided to uninstall it. I made it my default downloader but it makes me wonder as an IE add-on that is always on once opened what else it might be doing? I too, am paranoid. I was not downloading anything when IE8 crashed and Microsoft pointed its finger at FlashGet. Mr. Fix-It disabled it and I uninstalled it. I'm afraid I can't recommend this software.

"Is Flashget a Malware?"
Version: FlashGet 1.9.6.1073
Pros
It´s a great little program for speeding up handling of downloads but...
Cons
Connects repeatedly to a server in China slowly eating up the ports in the computer.
Summary
Flashget continuosly connects itself to a server based in China and slowly eats up all the ports on the computer. After 5 days running the program (without downloading anything) I had 247 connections to the same IP (219.232.241.91:53). Flashget does something in the background that to me looks mighty fishy. I recommend avoidance and have myself uninstalled it. The developer don't answer the question what it is either since any atempt to contact them fails. The mailadresses bounces :/
Avoid it until this problem has been adressed properly. It is possible that there is a prefectly logical explenation to it and it is simply a bug, but why connect to a server all the time anyways? Looking for updates? Why not say so in the manual and FAQ then? So with that in mind the paranoid sceptic in me says uninstall it. Better safe than sorry! -
"Functional"
Version: FlashGet 1.9.6.1073
Pros
Does what I downloaded it to do - grab flash video off the internet so that I can save and view when needed
Cons
I cannot stop it operating. It grabs all my downloads. I don't want to delete it as it is very useful but I cannot find a way to stop it operating during my normal web browsing or e-mail viewing. Perhaps that is just me though.

"Might have messed my computer up dammit!"
Version: FlashGet 1.9.6.1073
Pros
The only thing good about this one, is that it will try to download from various sources simultaneously.
Cons
This program wouldn't initiate the download process when I tried to do some downloads.
Summary
I'm Rocky - from: And I think this program needs some bugs worked out of it. But I guess use it, if you have to. lol
