"YouTube support removed! Adware/Malware added!"

Pros
Flash Video Downloader used to be an easy & safe product to download flash-based videos embedded into various websites.
Cons
They've secretly slipped Adware/Malware into their product (Superfish "Featured Shopper"). Flash Video Downloader obviously tracks your browsing history (that's how it know's when there's a flash video available to download)... who knows where your browsing data is going now that they've got AdWare/Malware involved.
Also, Flash Video Downloader recently removed support to download YouTube videos. (I suspect Google/YouTube probably forced that change for copyright purposes.)Summary
With Adware/Malware added to the product and YouTube support removed removed, I suspect most users will no longer find this product helpful or safe to use.

I had this installed for a few months. Worked fine on a number of sites.
Cons
As of the last update they added a new piece of crapware. When you are on certain websites, like shopping, you see a new miniwindow hovering over items. It's trying to get you to shop other sites, and so on. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out where this was coming from. Not in Control Panel > Programs. Not in Chrome Extensions. Not in the Options in any extension. It was not easy, but with enough Google searching, and by recalling seeing an extension update for FVD recently, I nailed the culprit. Uninstalled.
NOTE: This addition piece of software is HIDDEN. It cannot be uninstalled separately (by usual means). THIS IS WHY THEY LOSE ME.Summary
FVD has made a major mistake. FORCING people to put up with crapware is a bad practice. I also hate forced bundle installs of crapware, but if you give me a way to cleanly uninstall, I'll get over it. But, when you hide it so I can't get rid of it, goodbye.

Summary
I'm a seasoned vet of 'puter operations and analysis of over 40 years. This is one of the MOST invasive software packages I've ever come across. It has SEVERAL prongs of adwares. DON'T USE under ANY circumstance. If you do......God Bless....Your gonna need it!!!!

-Inserts ads into google searches, possibly more, as of a recent update. This is absolutely unacceptable.
-Doesn't work on all flash videos, and cannot download certain quality videos from youtube.

This was a good addon, and I was very happy with it, however I will not put up with advertisements being inserted into pages. Greed is bad, yo.

1) The list of sites it advertises being able to download from is impressive!
2) Review by CNet very positive.Cons
Tried on YouTube and another site and did not work. For both sites a small window appeared under the icon when I clicked it. That window disappeared after a second. Said something about "Request sent" (Some details) then "Received Answer".
I suspect that if CNET gave it 5 stars that it does work, at least at the time CNET tested it. It's quite possible that with extra time I could get it to work, but I've already invested over an hour doing initial research and installing it.
PS - I have a concern about why this Chrome Extension is not available from the normal source that most others are available - the Chrome store. I suspect there is a good and logical reason but I wish that reason was explained somewhere. If this extension had not been reviewed by CNET, I would have concerns about the security and reliability of this extension and would never have downloaded it.Summary
Never worked for me so I could have rated 2 or 1 star, but I chose to not put more time into attempting to debug. Maybe it's fine and it's a problem with my computer or setup. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt rating it 3 stars.

Summary
For some reason many downloaders no longer work with YouTube, probably because google changed system to prevent downloads. This one works just fine. You get a download button directly under the video and get choose what quality to download. Kuzma Safonov patiently answered my requests for help until I figured out how to install extension directly, without going to Google Play. Thank you.

it downloads shows with no problems, and playback is alright

even tho it gives you multibles to download, needs to be more informent of the player so you don't make mistakes in downloading the wrong files that can't be played with the player you have installed on your pc... waste

over all it is a descent player for google chrome sense realplayer has stopped working for chrome all together... still needs improvement so it will download amvs or mvs from youtube from google chrome browser.

To install just open up the Extensions manager in Chrome, and drag and drop it on the window, and it will install with no issues. I just did it on 9/21/2012 with the current version of Chrome.
Cons
Google trying to block installs that aren't from the app store. LAME!

Easy to install and run. Downloading is simple, and files can be stored in desired location. Easiest downloader I have ever used. If using Chrome as browser, you need to download this from the Chrome Store, as this file is .crx
Cons
Slow download speed, but not bad. Gives selections of all downloadable video on page, so selection of correct file can be confusing to new users.
Summary
EASY TO INSTALL, RUN AND USE! IF YOU ARE USING CHROME AS YOUR BROWSER, PLEASE GET THIS FROM CHROME WEB STORE TO USE.

Summary
Despite going through all the stages listed in the guide for crx files (which were not absolutely correct as I found that the Chrome exe file was under 'program files' rather than the Chrome folder in the hidden 'AppData' folder) I was unable to install this app as Chrome blocked it & generated a message stating that extensions were only allowed from the Chrome web store. Very disappointing! :( Perhaps the developers could be persuaded to post this app on the Chrome web store?
