"Do NOT deal with these people."

    December 7, 2010  |   By tdschmidcnet

    Version: Fix-it Utilities Professional 10.3.3.4

    Pros

    Good programs

    Cons

If you upgrade your computer, or crash your hard drive two or three times, you cannot reload the programs because the 'serial number is already in use". Avanquest support (so named) says "tough ****, buy the new one." I'll never deal with them again.

"Looks great but looks can be deceiving"

    June 24, 2010  |   By kdmathison

    Version: Fix-it Utilities Professional 10.3.3.4

    Pros

    Looks great.

    Cons

Registry cleaner did not work at all. In fact, most of the features did not really work, but the registry cleaner was the worst.

    Summary

I would not recommend this software. There are much better programs out there.

    "Dangerous to your files!"

    April 25, 2010  |   By feffster

    Version: Fix-it Utilities Professional 10.3.3.4

    Pros

Considering the problems I have had I don't want to say anything positive that would encourage people to buy this software

    Cons

The utilities that are included don't work well and cause more damage than they fix.

    Summary

The bottom line is: If you buy this software you are wasting your money and asking for lost files and poor system performance.

I bought this software a month ago and could go on for much more space than allowed here to explain the above statement but I will keep it to just two of the problems I have with this software. The two utilities are the main reason I bought the software.

First: The file undeleter often cannot recover files that were just deleted. When it can recover them it uses old MS-DOS file names that are limited to 8 characters such as "MYBEAU~1.JPG" instead of "My Beautiful Wife in the Red Dress.jpg" In the event that you accidentally delete a folder that has many similarly named files you will have to spend a lot of time opening each one and deciding what name to give it. If the folder happens to be a program folder where you don't know all of the file names, you are just out of luck.
Second: This is the really bad one. The temporary file cleaner. This utility attacks and removes files that it shouldn't. Earlier today I used it and allowed it to clear my web history and temporary internet files. The cleaner also deleted ALL of my bookmarks for Firefox. I can't think of any way those could be considered temporary files! I didn't tell it to shred the files but given the usefulness of the file undeleter, I still haven't been able to find.the file that contains the bookmarks.
I am dreading the discovery of what else is gone that shouldn't be. There was no list given of specific files that were removed but it did give a basic rundown. 5040 files. 1.8 gb. I use Windows Disk Cleanup often so there shouldn't have been that many temp files hiding on my system. I was wanting something a little more thorough than the basic Windows tool. I guess I got it.

    "False Sense of Security"

    April 20, 2010  |   By seldomseen68

    Version: Fix-it Utilities Professional 10.3.3.4

    Pros

All pro's are in it's appearance. Looks good, just pay no attention to whats not behind the curtain.

    Cons

Doesn't really "FIX" anything. Doesn't like you to run other security programs, like Ad-Ware. Runs several files running in the background that hog the CPU.

    Summary

Really does nothing but offer a false sense of security. It loves to tell you things are fixed, when really it does nothing spectacular.
Some tools just don't work, and the only solution their tech-support will offer is to either uninstall and reinstall, or go through a series of silly tasks to disable other programs. Doing this also will not help the tools to work.
Their tech-support seems to through their hands up in the air, and quickly.
Another major frustration is that it loves to run certain files like mxtask2.exe in the background. They will hog your CPU while you are doing other things. Disabling FIX-IT will not stop these files from running.
When I attempted to tame these files by lowering their CPU usage, it crashed my computer.
