Our first Firefox theme gallery offered new ways for surfing the Web with Firefox 1.5, but not all of those themes came along with the recent upgrade to Firefox 2. We've dug deep to find the best and the brightest themes for the new version of the open-source browser. A few are repeat performers, while others are fresh looks for enhancing your daily Web surfing. If you don't have Firefox, download it now.
This colorful theme was a big hit for Firefox 1.5, with good reason. The well-designed, lighthearted icon set adds class to the browser without coming across as overbearing. We particularly like the Home icon's hand-drawn, cartoonish feel.
This colorful, summery theme brightens up Firefox with rainbow colors and crystal-like button icons. The added touch of bright yellow stars for each item in the Bookmarks toolbar rounds out the effect.
One of the best things about Apple's Mac OS X is its smooth interface and simple design. This theme does a fine job of capturing that elegance for Firefox on your Windows PC. The glassy-smooth buttons and iTunes-inspired bookmarks sidebar lets you surf in the style of Mac OS X Aqua.
The industrial metalwork is pleasant on your eyes as you surf the Web. The gradient of dark green to light green gives a faux metallic surface depth, while the light green pull-down menus add style as you navigate through Firefox's options screens.
A true departure from the Firefox default theme in Firefox, Orbit Yellow replaces your regular button icons with rounded yellow buttons. The graphical consistency and style of this theme will likely make your co-workers and friends jealously ask, "What browser is that?"
This minimalist theme adds just the right amount of color to your browser without calling too much attention. Well-made icons--such as the small box of crayons to indicate themes or the little red close boxes in tabs--provide a unique look without dominating the screen.
More understated than some of the others on this list, this subtly colorful theme still manages to stand out. The simple, faded buttons add a cartoonlike feel without much distraction. The mushroom house for the Home icon complements the cute, understated design.
This full-conversion theme was a hit in our first Firefox theme gallery, and it returns for round two. Candylike buttons pepper a pleasant, grey-and-blue interface. Slightly darker than the other themes listed here, Curacao is an acquired taste. Surf with it for awhile to give it a chance.
While the design seems a bit childish at first, you can't deny this theme's ability to inspire kids at heart. Each of the asymmetrical hand-drawn icons looks as if it belongs in a coloring book. A Stop button that looks like a hand-drawn traffic sign completes the set.
This modern theme seems simple at first, but you'll quickly realize there is more than meets the eye. The sunken address bar and buttons, paired with the glossy icons, give this theme a futuristic appeal. The silver blue background gradient adds to the overall effect.
