"does exactly what's needed to send large files"
Version: FileChute 4.3.5
Pros
Althought there are alternatives for sending large files, File Chute does not demand anything of the receiver other than one click on the link sent. No signing up, etc.
Cons
I'd like to assign a length of time for a file before it's deleted. Some can be deleted right away, but I might like to send something out over a more extended time without having to re-upload.
Summary
It has solved all my large file sending, works quickly, without fail, and updates frequently with improvements.

"Simple Yet Powerful!!!"
Version: FileChute 4.2.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have tried a number of different programs to assist with the transfer of large files over the internet and most will do the job. However, this program beats them all for its ease of use and speed. I highly recommend this product. It is definitely the file compression / file transfer program for people without much technical ability.
It gets the job done without having the user to read pages of instructions on its operation. -
"This app is very handy!"
Version: FileChute 4.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
For quite some time, I have been uploading several files at once to my FTP site, and the manual process of getting the URL's has been a real pain, especially ensuring that they are clickable in an email (for some reason I sometimes had problems with that).
FileChute has made this operation SO much easier! Do the simple setup, upload the files, then select the files in FileChute and it automatically shows you the URL of the file in a window on top of the app's screen. Drag them en masse to the email program. Done.
For the person who was trying to upload to yousendit, note that YellowMug makes no claims of being able to do this. Websites like yousendit are web-based file transfer sites. YellowMug's website reads: "FileChute works best with a MobileMe account, configuration is super easy. But since not everyone has a MobileMe account, FileChute also works great with other FTP or WebDAV-accessible web server." -

"Amazing little utility"
Version: FileChute 2.5.8
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The words "little utility" belie the incredible power of this product to solve the frequent problem of shifting large files between friends, colleagues or other users on the Internet. Even with a good email application or ISP there never seems to be hiccoughs when it comes to sharing large files over the Internet. As a podcaster I have to send files to my co-host over the Internet pretty frequently and also want to shift large photo files around. Enter "Filechute". Intuitively linked up to my .Mac account the utility set itself up with one click and filled in all the details from my keychain! I was astounded. Ever since I am moving files round with or without passwords to friends, colleagues and others. This programme is a gift! You WILL use this product if you download it. :-) -
"Filechute-MacOSX"
Version: FileChute 3.0.4
Summary

This is how software should be. It's inexpensive and is a great utility for sending very large files via the net./ That's it -simply. Anyone can use this software-it's drag and drop and then it gives you a link which you copy to your email. Voila. You have to have a Mac. Account and that is an expense and you can't use your own website-but really nothing's stopping you going that route if you want. Filechute is easy and makes my life that little bit less complicated when I have a 200MB file to send.Brilliant little thingy from Yellow Mug. If you have a Mac Account it's super. -
"Short URL Issue"

The short URL feature seems to have changed to a new company for this version, and doesn't work. -
"prior versions were flawless. 3.0.3 has problems"
Version: FileChute 3.0.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
prior versions were flawless. Upgrading versions did not change settings and did not require re-registration. This version does and breaks itself. I have not been able to fix the settings so that it will sync with the .mac account. I would not recommend this update. Stick with your prior versions if you are not having problems.
previous versions worked very well. Allowing for easy transfer of files to .mac and providing a link that is usable to mac and PC users. It is a great way of transferring large files! The short URL feature is hit and miss but when it is working is a nice feature. -
