Summary
This small and simple program can unlock files from processes running in Windows which have locked them so that the user cannot otherwise process them: delete them, defrag them, etc. Even files locked by Windows Explorer, such as the Thumb Cache files, this program can unlock and remove all handles so you the user can process them normally. Very good, and absolutely FREE!

geez cnet.. all the cookies you throw at us.. why i am here, have cookies that won't delete. stop it already.. the file tried to delete did not work for cookie in temporary internet files. but seems like some killer app made it some kind of hidden / system file that won't let me touch...

Once the assassin did not assassinate a file. That was because the file was such a jagged toothed beast it could fend off the attack. So many other times this tool kills off beasts that are clogging or crippling or spying on computers I service. A-

It does what it's made to do extremely well. It couldn't be any easier to use - even for the beginner. Highly recommended - I think everyone should have this on their computer.

If you've ever had a piece of malware, spyware, trojan, etc. that your antivirus couldn't delete off your computer (and I have) - this is a godsend to have. Just drag and drop and the evil thing is deleted. Everyone should have this on their PC or MAC.

This is great for new malware, which your security software has not yet identified because it is relatively too new.Cons
You have to first determine the file name(s) that are causing you problems. If you are not too computer savy, you should find somebody who is, to take care of your problem for you.
Summary
No antivirus program can keep up with all the viruses and malware out there. I had a problem with a trojan tye file called 'setuper.exe" which would spit out other trojan type files from time to time. The file according to the internet seems to have had several incarnations, the latest of which wasn't detected by AVG. The file would not allow you to delete it or move it even as an administrator. On looking at the properties of the file it seemed like you should have access to it, but you won't. However, this program go rid of it quite easily.
I was lucky in that it installed itself into a temporary directory, so I could delete all the other files without causing any other problems for myself. That left the one file which was the problem. I searched the name of the file on the internet to make sure and then downloaded this program and solved the problem.
One thing that came out of the internet search was that I saw the companies that make virus detection software were at least two months behind, at least on this particular file. That is the difference of th date of the file on my computer and entries on their sites which talk about the file. This is why I use the free version of AVG instead of paying the other companies for their "protection."
