"Overhyped and Not Worthy of Applause"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
I can't think of any because if you think you're deleting files and then find out you can recover even one, then that's not a pro.
Cons
Product does not let you erase Folders (vs. Files), does not allow you to drag and drop or access files in the Recycle Bin....
Summary
I'd rather pay money and get a program that works than one that is purported to work but does not.

"Useless Download #197"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
None, as you'll see
Cons
Um...doesn't work?
Summary
Made test Word doc, hid it (Windows 'Delete'), recovered it, used the Gutman 35-pass alg...recovered again.

Cons

-
"Nice easy to use"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
I've only used it a few times. It is easy and fast. I like the options as to what kind of shredding I want to use.
Cons
I don't have any cons for this product.
Summary
I don't have the tools to determine how well it is shredding a file.
If it is, in fact, shredding as it says it is, it seems to be a very good product. -
"Good program it works fine"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
it works and offers different amounts of passes including a military pass 7 passes and one with 35 passes. nice program
Cons
none that I see
Summary
good program for someone who is a little bit paranoid and downloads some mp3 files or an occasional tv show or movie.
also I'm not sure why people says it doesn't work. lets be honest here though. the people that are having trouble with this simple little program that even a first grader could use. means they must be pretty dumb -
"Din't work for me."
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
nothing: It didn't work Took ten hours for a multi-pass file-shred: erased files still there
Cons
didn't work
Summary
Tried the various methods to shred erased files from an external drive: did not work
-
"It doesn't work, at least not for large files"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
Looks easy to use, but...
Cons
...it doesn't work. It spent about 45 minutes doing 3 passes of shredding a 7Gb file, and after the three passes the file shredder window closed. No error message, nothing - and the file was left intact and not removed.
Summary
It looks easy to use and the concept is great - but really, a file shredder should actually shred the files, and this simply doesn't work.
-
"great piece of software"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
quick and easy.
Cons
nothing bad to say.
Summary
a great way to clear out files quickly.

"Great Program BUT BE CAREDUL"
Version: File Shredder 2
Pros
About the easiest most efficient free programs I have ever used
Cons
By some very rare bug it can shred your entire C drive when using "shred free disc space"
Summary
BE CAREFUL! I have used it many, many times but one day I returned after starting "shred free disc space" to find that it had shred all files on the C: drive that were accesible. Needless to say there is no way to get them back. I had almost no windows files left, let alone all my programs and personal files. I could not find a place to discuss this or report a bug so I am doing so here. I do not know what caused that. Usually it works fine and I still use the program but I sit right with it and watch it. It started to do that another time but I caught it and stopped it.
