CNET Editors' review
This handy tool is utilitarian in design but helps you quickly manage oversize files for easier storing or sending. File Chopper's no-frills interface is easy to navigate, especially with the helpful tool tips and user guide. After selecting a file, you can choose from a list of preset sizes for the output files, including a 1.44MB floppy disk or a 700MB CD, or create and use a custom file size. You also can opt to create a self-uniting batch file, so anyone can recombine the split files. Rebuilding files is equally simple and can be done with a few quick clicks. Other tools will help you with extracting a particular segment of a file, attaching smaller sections to an existing file and defining specific starting points for a split. In testing, this efficient tool was able to handle every file type we threw its way, and we were impressed with how quickly it worked, even when handling megasize files. Folks seeking a hassle-free way to divvy up their files will appreciate this application's simplicity and effectiveness.Publisher's Description
From Matex Data HB:
File Chopper splits files of any sizes into smaller ones of any sizes, mainly for storing and transferring files that are too big. These files may be restored either by using the File Chopper again, or by using a DOS batch file that may be created at the time of splitting. The sizes of the split files may be chosen from a list that covers floppy discs, zip drives, CD-ROM, DVD and other media but it is fully editable to allow for modifications and additions of own sizes. File Chopper works on all Windows file systems: FAT16 (FAT), FAT32 and NTFS. The downloaded program is a self-extracting installation program that will install the File Chopper program. Version 3.6 differs from 3.5 only with a bit smoother installation part and a completely rewritten home page, including help.

"It does exactly what it say... and does it EXCELLENTLY well!"
Version: File Chopper 3.6
Summary
I was looking for a utility that would simply split an 8 GB image file into smaller chunks, and couldn't find one that wasn't a MPEG/MP3/AVI specific tool, or a spyware-ridden trojan. After reading the user feedback for all the other tools, I wasn't sure I could find what I was looking for.
I took a chance on this tool, and it did exactly what I needed it to do. No frills, just simple, effective functionality.
I really liked the fact that it provides standard split sizes, AND lets me change the size of the splits (both custom and standard ones) to whatever I want.
This is an EXCELLENT tool if you're looking for an effective file splitting utility.
