"ok, 5 stars .. BUT .."
Version: File Buddy X 7.6
Summary

I've never been able to create a cool OSX folder icon: it looks crappy or it just fails. But for all the other cool features, that would take hours to all mention here, I think it truly worths 5 stars. Its a good OSX software, easy to use, and always working flawlessly. And also, it has a very intuitive interface, really Mac-ish. -
"Keep 'em coming, SkyTag"
Version: File Buddy X 7.5.9

Definitely one to put in your login/startup items. Sure, you can do most of this for free with AppleScript... if you really, really want to; or you can shell out the one-time fee of 50 bucks and let SkyTag do all the hard work.
And as for frequent updates, fine by me. Just 'cos Adobe rarely gets its bug-riddled apps past version X.0.1 before bringing out the next major version and slapping a huge upgrade fee on it, that doesn't mean that all software has to be that way. -

for more reasons than swiss army knives have blades.
can't balk at the price when i launch this app twenty times a day...on a slow day.
in terms of product excellence and evolution and developer responsiveness, one of the all-time shareware greats. -

"One Ring to Rule Them All"
Version: File Buddy X 7.5.8
Summary

Sure, you can get programs that do part of what FileBuddy does. Many are free. You can't get one other program that does them all and I haven't found any others that will write a script for you (droplets). This has been my "swiss army knife" going back to OS6. It's tools are so extensive that sometimes it is hard to figure out which approach is best to solve a particular problem. Once you pay for it, the many updates are always free and couldn't be easier to install - just drag the folder where you want it. No DMG's, no "virtual disks". I was removing non-english language files with FileBuddy on OSX public beta - long before Delocalizer et al. I don't use FileBuddy for that any more, but whenever I face a problem with "files" this is where I turn. Truly great software. -
"Dr. K - have some coffee"
Version: File Buddy X 7.5.7
Summary

File Buddy is just like Vuescan...excellent software that gets used day in and day out. Updates are rolled out to address issues. To consider that a problem shows you either don't understand software development, or you're just trolling.
Five stars.

"v7.5.6 doesn't find invisible items anymore"
Version: File Buddy X 7.5.6
Summary

Previous versions often crashed when trying to find invisible items. 7.5.6 just doesn't find any. -

"Expensive but Useful"
Version: File Buddy X 7.5.6
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
File Buddy continues to be a terrific and useful app, and it is well updated and stable, but $50 is too much for shareware, period. I registered long ago and have paid for the upgrade, but would never have paid the current price for the full version. There are too many good alternatives at a reasonable price.
This developer certainly deserves to be paid for his consistent good work, but he's not going to get high sales (or discourage piracy) by overcharging for it. -
"Good, losing usefulness"
Version: File Buddy X 7.5.4
Summary

It's a great program, I've owned it for many years. however, it's losing usefulness lately with OS X. I still use it every once in a while.
