Version: FaxTalk Messenger Pro 7
Pros: It's very simple, regardless of what other users are saying. I love the broadcast capabilities. Stable.
Cons: I guess it's downfall is it's simplcity in its design itself. Attaching pictures is not as simple as I hoped, but better than another fax program I used.

"Must be next version of Talkworks."
Pros: I've been using Talkworks for years, but upgraded to XP and it won't work. After trying a few demos I found this one and like it. I wonder if this company purchased the Talkworks software from Symantec.

"It efficently does the basic things I need done."
Pros: I like the software, I bought the software. If I could access the help menu I am sure that I would like the program more but I have questions that I cannot get answered by the software and support won't return my email. But once again it will get me my faxes, the fax resolution is great.
Cons: I cannot utilze the help menu, it is not Vista compliant, I have contacted support on this issue and they haven't responded yet, maybe they won't. Can someone email me a Vista compatiable help file

"Good Software - Grief if you try to Upgrade"
Pros: The software since 7.0 so far seems to be a big improvement. It seems more stable and reliable. The program operates well. I don't notice the bugs that plagued 7.0. The trial period is for only 15 days. I am using this under Vista. I've had this since 6.0 through upgrades since that time. They are moving in the right direction.
Cons: Here's where they fall flat on their face. To upgrade, you have to have a previous version installed. I moved from XP to Vista. I had a clean machine. So, I go to reinstall version 7.0 only to find that software wants me to install the version that I had before that. So, their upgrade wants me to install software that is not Vista compatible just to upgrade. If you are doing the upgrade, how about just asking for the license numbers the person has previously held. And, if the company is concerned that there are counterfeit licenses, then do what Microsoft has with their Download Vault - let your customer upgrade from your system with a log in and password. Don't make the user jump through hoops.
What is really disheartening was to get the message that my 15 day trial is over, buying the new software, and getting a message stating that it may take a day to get an e-mail with the serial number for the product.
So, now I have no system to handle calls until I get their e-mail.
So much for customer service.

"A dead product that crashes my system regularly."
Pros: I've suffered with this product for years because it seemed to be the only option, and when it was working it did a good job of receiving faxes and voice mails, and had a simple and intuitive interface.
Cons: Because it hasn't been updated since 2005, and the on-line support is almost nonexistant (you can't even download the latest patch file on-line,) the publisher clearly is just milking it for whatever they can get out of it. I'd still be using it if it didn't crash my system (even after clean Win XP installs) on a regular basis, and have so many problems with my modems (I've tried several brands, but each one had it's own unique set of problems with FaxTalk.) I recently purchased Venta Fax and Talk and am VERY happy with it -- see my review. It's a much better product all the way around.
