"A Pretty Good Program for Free"

    May 7, 2013  |   By claymore2211

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

Pretty simple to use basic commands.
Allows you to retain original EXIF data.
Allows resized photos to be saved in a different location (doesn't automatically overwrite original photo). This also allows you to discard your original resizing project and start over.
    Can batch rename photos.

    Cons

When choosing to resize photos using the percentage option (e.g., resize to 75% of original size), outcome is not always accurate.
Would prefer to have an option whereby you could choose the final size you want the photo to be (e.g., resize from 4.0 MB to 1.0 MB.

    Summary

All in all, a decent program for free. I would really like a program that allows me to choose the actual size of my final photo (e.g., make my photo exactly 985 KB).

"OK, but not worth writing home about"

    March 21, 2013  |   By prophetsboy

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

    Resizes pictures

    Cons

Poor interface. Not the quickest way to resize photos.

    Summary

Not a bad product, but I was looking for something that would allow me to convert photo(s) to a given size and format in one step (and I found it, Minh's Free PhotoResizer) and this program is not particularly fast. In fact, this is no quicker to use than Faststone Image Viewer, which can do a whole lot more besides. Personally, I prefer IrfanView, but however I look at it I see no reason to use this particular program.

    "Wonderful application."

    February 7, 2013  |   By john3347

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

Simple and intuitive to use. Features are easy to find and it is obvious how to use them. Just select the group or single photograph that you want to rename or resize, or both, and follow prompts.

    Cons

    No negatives to the product.

    Summary

It even is designed to expose to the user functions that the user does not have to search for. (Maybe they didn't know they needed this or that until it appeared to them.) Cannot over emphasize the intuitiveness of all FastStone products. This is clearly the best program to rename and resize photographs regardless of price - in this case price is free.I have been using Image Viewer, Screen Capture, and Image viewer. These products are everything that a non-professional needs to manage family photos, etc.

    "Good fully functional software"

    January 24, 2013  |   By StarNStripe

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

Batch processing, great options, lots of features

    Cons

Takes a little more time than with Minh's Photo Resizer

    Summary

Good product for more functionality than just a drag-n-drop item, although there is also drag-n-drop functionality with FastStone.

    "A Great Free Application"

    September 14, 2012  |   By alderny

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

Fast, intuitive interface, can save settings, can rename files

    Cons

    None that I have found.

    Summary

I use this to compress photos for sending in email attachments, and to compress/resize photos for various digital photo frames.

For the latter, I can rapidly compress, crop and resize photos to fit the native resolution of the target photo frame, thus optimising the number of photos that will fit without reducing their resolution below that of the frame. The photos typically compress down to between 2% - 5% of their original size (e.g. 5MB down to about 100KB - 250KB), or to put it another way, about 25,000 photos on a 4GB SD card with a 800 x 480 pixel resolution.

    "Am I the only one???"

    July 24, 2012  |   By gr4474

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

It opens pictures and will crop, rotate etc.

    Cons

Images open up with only a black backround. Scrolling the mouse up reveals an awkward row of buttons for editing...minus the minimize/maximize buttons. To leave the window I have to push escape, which at that point the program closes.

Oh no, forget minimizing the window to look at another...that feature that first came out since the very first MS WINDOWS wowed us oh so long ago. So what about viewing 2 images side by side? Forget it, hope you have a good memory.
I was not able to find any settings to fix this, maybe there are somewhere. How is this the top rated image program??

    Summary

    Frusterating

    "What perfect piece of software."

    July 20, 2012  |   By chat-admin

    Version: FastStone Photo Resizer 3.1

    Pros

It does even more than expected. The watermark feature is great. I can add subtle watermarks with my logo to hundreds of images in seconds. Will save you bandwidth by reducing file size.

    Cons

    None, thanks.
