"It does what I need to do in photo editing"

    August 5, 2012  |   By andyeide

    Pros

The reason I needed a photo editor program was to re-size photos, flip photos, and rotate photos. FastStone does what I need it to do.

    Cons

Very confusing when the opening screen takes me to my directory tree. I double-clicked on a photo fully expecting FastStone to open that photo in a photo-editing screen with all menu items clearly visible. What I got was a full-screen image of the photo and not one menu item was available. I was extremely confused until my wife, an IT Tech, came in and started moving the mouse all over the full-screen image. Suddenly out of nowhere the menu items started popping up depending upon where the mouse was pointing.

For me this was extremely frustrating and confusing as I am used to programs where the menu items are clearly visible.

    Summary

Although FastStone is extremely confusing and frustrating for new users like me, who have never used a photo editing program before, and who is family only with programs with clearly visible menu items all the time...once I figured out the quirks of the program I found that it easily does the three things I needed it for: Re-sizing photos...flipping photos...and rotating photos.

Prior to having FastStone the only way I could re-size a photo was to load it into PowerPoint and drag it to the size I needed and then save it. With FastStone my image re-sizing takes 1/10th of the time it previously took.

    Thanks!

you needed help from an "IT tech" and the solution was "moving the mouse all over the full-screen image" LMAO! Maybe you should buy a Mac.
