"Great FREE program and easy to use"

    May 9, 2007  |   By ann spain

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

This has got to be the best free screen capture program out there, and rates highly with the paid for versions of similar products. I found it easy to navigate through the system and the downloadable help files with pictures are an added bonus.

I AM SURE YOU WILL NOT REGRET DOWNLOADING THIS LITTLE GEM

    "Stable, Easy to Use"

    May 1, 2007  |   By diane9111

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

Easy to use, not just for full screen capture but can also select just a portion of the screen. Very fast, good options of how & where you want to save what you've captured. Oh - and it really is free.

    Cons

    Haven't found any cons.

"Fun and easy to use. Just what I was looking for."

    April 20, 2007  |   By DHRD

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

This is the screen capturing utility I was looking for. It's free (love that) and easy to use. There are many options to capturing the screen (whole desktop, active window, part of the screen...) which can be saved to different formats. You can also email the image right from the console using Outlook Express (I don't know if other email clients are supported)

I'm not really good a product reviews, so I'll end mine here. But let me finish by saying that FastStone Capture is awesome!

    Cons

This isn't a "Con" per se, but a suggestion. The icons in the Editor could be smaller or resizable (allow users to remove the text below the icons).

"Great, friendly, lightweight and free screen capture"

    April 15, 2007  |   By DrorHarari

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

FastStone's Capture (v5.3) is a great utility program for capturing screenshots. It is the best program of its kind I have used so far.

FastStone Capture is so small and light you can just have it running in the tray, ready for use. Its user interface is humane and fun to use (as other FastStone products are). The main key is the PrintScreen key: normal PrintScreen captures the full screen, shift-PrintScreen captures the active window, control-PrintScreen captures area on the screen and my favorite control-alt-PrintScreen which captures scrolling window into a big image.

Captured images are sent to a preferred location: clipboard, file (bmp, gif, jpg, pdf, tiff and png), email, printer or a simple image annotator. The image annotator lets you add text (any language), arrows, highlightings and shapes to the captured picture.

The program is free for non-commercial use - at work we have SnagIt (the do-it-all expensive screen capture program) but it is so heavy I just can't use it. Since I use it at work, I bought a lifetime license for $30 - well worth the price.

    Preferred settings to check:

    * Run when windows start

    * Silent startup

    * Button "X" is used to: Minimize to Windows tray area

    * Scroll refresh time: 100 milliseconds

    Cons

    These are probably temporary issues:

    1. Annotation text can be in any language but its does not support right-to-left entry (Hebrew and Arabic).

    2. The default scroll refresh time of 50 milliseconds results in fractured capture in auto-scroll mode.

    "Easiest screen capture program around."

    April 12, 2007  |   By Hawk-McKain

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

This program makes taking screenshots amazingly simple, yet gives you a large range of capture methods.

My personal favorite is "Capture Window/Object" since it automatically attempts to find an area of the window (Say the web page view of a browser) so you don't get extra stuff you'd just be cropping out later.

I've already got nearly a thousand screenshots because FastStone Caputre takes out the hassle of capping the screen, pasting it into an image editor, possible cropping the image, then choosing a name and a place to save.

    Cons

The only problem I really have is if I want to take a screen shot of a game and it takes two when I press PrtScrn.

"Is it your screen or is it FastStone Capture ? Almost impossible to tell !"

    April 9, 2007  |   By mrwoodee

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

Before becoming computer semi-literate and discovering Download.com , I had paid around $30 for a leading screen shot program.

I check out a lot of photo editing software and I had been so impressed with the FastStone Image Viewer that , when I found their Screen Capture on DL.com I had to give it a try. The difference in clarity , speed and ease of use is unbelievable ! When you throw in the fact that FastStone is FREE , you have a mix that just can't be beat . With 102 downloads on my watch list I only have time to write reviews for the one's that are really really GOOD or really really BAD . This one is definitely in the really really GOOD column . Even though I paid good money for that other software , it's headed straight for the recycle bin & shredder .

    Version: FastStone Capture 5.3

    Pros

Well, this is a must have for every Windows user. It offers some options to screen capture not figured in other programs. It's free, small and does the work. And the best of all, it works in Vista too!

    Cons

Nop, not even a small contrary for using this amazing program.
