    "Copies DVDs efficiently"

    July 20, 2012  |   By Kariput

    Version: Fancy DVD Copy 2.0

    Pros

    Very simple to use.
    Choice of output modes.
    Can shrink a DVD9 to DVD5.

    Cons

No preview screen a la DVD Shrink. Although you can preview individual VIDEO_TS files without sound.

    Summary

This program is simple and easy to use. It lets you burn to DVD, copy to disk as VIDEO_TS files or save as an ISO image. It also has the capability to shrink a DVD9 to a DVD5 with very good video quality.

As noted in the "cons" section, a preview screen would be a welcome addition.

I did encounter a burn failure when I tried to output to DVD. However, I suspect that was due to a Nero conflict in my system. It would have been nice if Ideal's failure notice gave a clue. At any rate, simply opening Ideal's temp files with Nero allowed me to complete the burn.

"best dvd back-up i've ever used"

    March 29, 2011  |   By Pumedadume

    Version: Fancy DVD Copy 3.2.2

    Pros

does everything it claims to do. i bought the full version and couldn't be more pleased. i've tried many products including x-copy platinum when it was in business. very fast customer support; it has yet to fail to back-up a movie.

    Cons

    none that i've run into

    Summary

if you are looking for a product to back-up movies this is the ticket. this is one purchase you won't regret. it is extremely fast and easy to use; i especially like the feature to just back up the movie and not all the "extras" that i may only watch once if at all which goes a long way to improving the picture quality as i only use a single layer burner to back up dual layer movies. good job ideal.

    "Good copy software."

    February 13, 2011  |   By Chraz_Ritt

    Version: Fancy DVD Copy 3.2.2

    Pros

Intuitive, each step leads to ether the proper prompt, or the next step without referring to any help files..

Shrinking the files to fit on a 4.7 DVD disk is as fast as other software that I have tried for the average DL to DL copies.

    Cons

The 10 copy evaluation period may be too short to fully test the features.

    Summary

While the limit of 10 uses for the trial period may not allow me to test all the features as fully as I would like (15 or 20 uses would be better in my mind), the fact that the trial is with fully functional software. A trial period on fully functional software means that I will have a chance to test out features for usability before I decide about spending cash on it.

While I personally am used to taking care of a number of settings before clicking the "go" button on software, this interface is easy to use, and takes things step by step. This is a plus because there is no need to worry about if this setting or another was remembered. The interface is also simple and concise, however it would be nice to be able to call up a verbose mode for the super geek in me.

In conclusion, if the rest of the trial period goes as well as the first tries I will be buying the product.

    "excellent"

    August 29, 2007  |   By warriorforchrist

    Version: Fancy DVD Copy 2

    Pros

Let it upgrade from Fancy dvd copy to Ideal DVD copy ... It will copy your DVD's and most are done in less than 30 mins of time . If I was going to pay for a program I think it would be this ... however going to try uninstalling it on my 8th dvd then reinstall the program ... Will be giving that one a try later on down the road . Hopefully it will work out that way then I wont have to pay for it LOL ... I can live with that limitation LOL .

    Cons

Whats there not to like ? Unless its limited to 10 dvds to be made ... just uninstall the thing then reinstall it and start over from scratch ... thats what im going to do unless it is also so deep in the registry ( the registration ) in that case will have to remove it from there as well then reinstall ... only on my 2nd dvd being made.

"A bit of confusion on this program's details."

    December 4, 2006  |   By atroposz

    Version: Fancy DVD Copy 2

    Pros

When I first downloaded this program, I was incredibly annoyed to discover you cant copy commercial DVDs - apparently in the description when they say YOUR DVDs, they mean DVDs that you have made. However, after writing a scathing email demanding a refund to their customer service, they provided a link to another of their programs called "Ideal DVD Copy", which uses the same reg code as Fancy DVD copy, and *does* copy commercial DVDs. That program worked fine.

    Cons

The confusion was completely unnecessary. Even when you go to their website, they never out and out say "btw, this wont work for backing up your DVD collection." It wasnt until I emailed them that I was directed to the right program. I do like Ideal DVD copy, it has a nice interface and is very easy. But dont waste your time with the Fancy program.

    "Excellent!"

    September 9, 2006  |   By Onehoop

    Version: Fancy DVD Copy 2

    Pros

6.2 mb download and installation are fast! The software opens quickly and the interface is astonishingly simple, what a treat!

I only want to copy dvds.

I have used Nero in the past, and uninstalled it because it was an aggravation to understand, not to mention it is a huge download (103 mb)

    Cons

    It's not free. :)
