Factory Audio Converter

CNET Editors' review

by: CNET staff on December 22, 2009

Factory Audio Converter offers an easy way to convert audio files into just about any imaginable form. With a helpful layout and fast results, this is a great option for frequent song downloaders.

The program's interface is easy to navigate, thanks to an open layout and simple command icons. We felt in control the entire time and never needed to consult the Help file for instructions. We were able to easily pull songs from our personal collection and choose the ones that needed to be converted. The program clearly listed the file conversion types available, including the most common ones like WAV, MP3, and MP4, and many uncommon ones. The conversion only took a matter of seconds and produced an exact copy of the song we chose, but in its new format. In addition, we could perform bulk conversions to save ourselves the time and effort of handling each song individually. The program provided some nice features, including a push-button CD Ripping option and a music player embedded within the interface. We've tested many audio file converters, and this is by far one of the simplest to operate.

Factory Audio Converter has a 30-day trial. It installs desktop icons without permission. The program's speed and ease make this a great tool for standardizing your music collection and converting those weird old files to playable format, and we recommend it.

    "Not as advertised"

    May 22, 2011  |   By waste_of_time_you_wankers

    Version: Factory Audio Converter 1.1

    Pros

    Looks pretty

    Cons

Only converts 2/3 of a track without paying to buy the full version. Awesome, i really love listening to 1:53 of a 2:49 song.

    Summary

FREE??? What a load of crap, if they had of disclosed the programme needed cash to work in it's entirety then no problem. Being a sneaky **** gets you no friends. Don't bother unless you want to hand out the $$

    Version: Factory Audio Converter 1.1

    Pros

The tool is really easy-to-use. The result is perfect. I even did not expect that output files would be so good. The conversion takes several seconds.

    Cons

The program was not loaded with the garbage as OldWisty wrote. No extra icons and tools. Everything is good and clear.

    Summary

I used the tool for free during 30 days. No windows asking registraion key appeared during the trial period. The conversion was excellent!

"Good audio converter (wav to mp3)"

    November 22, 2010  |   By LappiPump

    Version: Factory Audio Converter 1.1

    Pros

It's a good audio converter, which was able to convert 27 folders of wav files to mp3 without any errors. Unlike OldWisty I didn't notice any additional crap. This audio converter is not free. I believe it's shareware, but definitely not adware.

    Cons

No cons thought I didn't explore other audio formats yet.

    Summary

I like the way Factory Audio Converter processed my files, recommend it to anybody.

    "Loaded with garbage"

    February 7, 2010  |   By OldWisty

    Version: Factory Audio Converter 1.1

    Pros

actually it is a nice file converter. Easy to use. Does what it claims. So why you say did I only give it a 2 out of 5? Read the cons.

    Cons

It added ask.com tool bar, a couple of icons to my quick launch (one for ebay) and downloads other stuff behind the scenes when you arent looking. You are not give the option of installing this stuff or not. It does it automatically unbeknown to u.

    Summary

Bottom line, nothing is truly free. If you download the free trial, expect a load of crap added on that you have no choice it. I wish I hadnt bothered. It took longer to get the garbage off my system and out of my registry, than it did to convert the file I needed converting. So my advice is stay clear until this company decides to either make the free trial truly free or give the end user the option of adding on all this extraneous crap/ad ware.
