"Great Protection !"
Version: F-Secure Internet Security 2013
Pros
Easy to use, novice-friendly interface. Outstanding protection and repair numbers from independent testing groups. ( Named "Best in Protection" by AV-Test.org and PC World.) Fast scan times (which encourages more frequent scanning) and minimal setup required. System impact seems to vary by machine: I hardly notice it on my desktop with a 2nd gen Core i5 processor, but it adds a little weight to my laptop with it's 1st gen Core i3 - I agree that it's about average for an AV program. Also, it's compatible with my other security programs (MBAM, Spybot, Threatfire, etc.), with the exception of Comodo Dragon which it removed.
Cons
Very slim feature set for a paid suite; if certain features are important to you, you might be happier with another program. (but be sure to check that it's compatible with other programs that you might want to keep - this was a major deal-breaker with me.)
Summary
I have to say I'm very happy with F-Secure since my top priorities are protection and compatibility.(and,no, I don't work for them either.) I did have some initial concerns about it's firewall arrangement (it adds modules to your OS's built-in firewall), but I'm running Windows 7 x64 SP1 on both machines which has a pretty good firewall to begin with. To put my mind to rest, I ran it through the tests on Steve Gibson's terrific web-site (https://www.grc.com) and all ports were stealthed, no spam was allowed in, and it passed the leak test with flying colors. (My thanks to Gibson Research for these great tools.) So, I'm a happy camper and can definitely recommend F-Secure to anyone whose priorities are protection, repair, and compatibility with your other software.
(p.s.: for a good example, check out Trend Micro's beautiful website which has an easily accessible list of incompatible programs and look at "other software"- OMG!) -
"Security made easy. True pioneers in the security field"
Version: F-Secure Internet Security 2013
Pros
Configuring this software is very easy if you like to tweak things, if not the default settings are ok. F-Secure scores very highly with independent labs and Deep guard is a very powerful behavioral monitor. F-Secure support is extremely helpful and responsive. They offer e-mail, phone, and chat, and all of the support options work, as I have tested them. If the product would ever detect a virus and not remove it, all you have to do is contact them, and it will be taken care of within a timely manner. If you are looking for something a little different from the mainstream Anti-virus vendors then I suggest you check out F-Secure.
Cons
The two cons I have are that F-Secure 2013 uses the Windows firewall and adds modules to the firewall for extra protection. I feel that in certain instances the firewall would be vulnerable to a dedicated attack. The second con I have is that there are no log files.
Summary
I am not associated with this company, just a happy customer for two years. They also offer lowered rates for returning customers.
