doesn't seem to detect any viruses or mal-ware. It lets everything pass through.

You are better of having no anti-virus instead of this junk! Why? Because it gives you false security!
I'm a computer technician, I have been getting computers that are soaked with viruses and malware, those computers had F-Prot. F-Prot did not detect anything while other Anti-Virus softwares detected hundreds of threats. -

Versus zero day malware testing it performed poorly. Detecting 3/32. Two of those was detected during full scanning. They said it has a heuristic engine but I never was notified by the AV or prompted to block or allow anything. Needs to improve dramatically in this area if it does has one.
BOTTOMLINE: Try something else if you're considering on buying an AV. -

"Superb value"

Pros
Their business 10-computers-for-$50 license cannot be beat. We have used their product on all our office computers for a number of years.
Cons
Perhaps not as user friendly an interface as other products but it is unobtrusive and uses little computer resources.
