"EyeTV 3.1 Problem"

After upgrading to version 3.1, the volume buttons on the remote control no longer work in any view other than full screen! Weird! -
"AppleTV conversion broken"
Version: EyeTV 3.0.4
Summary

Unfortunately, I have to change my review from a few days ago and give this version a failing grade. I've discovered to my horror that exporting a recorded file to AppleTV now produces a jittery video that is nearly unwatchable. I suppose I should have tested this earlier before deleting the recordings, but why would I suspect that this basic feature would be broken? I've now lost a week's worth of recordings, and once again I'm going back to version 2. Very sad. -
"Huge improvement in editor"
Version: EyeTV 3.0.4

Wow. 3.0.4 brings a HUGE improvement to the editor.
I bought the 3.0 upgrade when it was released but couldn't stand the cumbersome editor and reverted to 2.x. Now for the first time the editor is usable. In fact, it has finally regained the speed that it lost with the 2.3.3 release back in December 2006.
Thank you, El Gato, for sticking with it and finally restoring smooth, speedy editing to a great product! -

Yes. One of the best improvements. -
"Lousy"

Very Poor Customer Support. Product support is huge, and Elgato Eye tv falls very short. Next if you are even remotely close to thinking this will replace a Tivo, think again. As a former Tivo owner I tried this product out as to avoid annoying tivo adds and monthly fees. Eye Tv falls short in many, many ways. For one if you are watching a show and you hit record, you only get from that point on. In addition Elgato Eye tv simply defaults to whatever recording time you set 3 hrs etc etc.. Tivo is intelligent, figures out that when the show ends so should the recording. It will also record 15-30 minutes behind just for good measure. Eye-tv? No. If you use satellite service, just plain forget it altogether, doesn't work, the schedules are pure chaos. Oh also if your using this on anything G4, forget it. Despite what the min requirements say, won't work. Dual G5's even have trouble. I do not recommend. blasko181@yahoo.com -
"EyeTV 3 works for me"
Version: EyeTV 3.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been a pleased user of EyeTV for over 17 months. It's running on a dual-core 1.83GHz Intel Mini with 1.25GB of RAM. The tuner, an EyeTV hybrid, is connected to an old RadioShack TV antenna in the attic. I've recorded hundreds of hours of HD material, most of it from the local PBS outlet (KLRU).
I used EyeTV 2 for over a year before upgrading to EyeTV 3. The only problems I can recall in version 2 were (1) occasionally the displays of schedules and recordings would show everything in duplicate, and (2) when a recorded program was being played while the recording was in progress, the end of the recording process would switch the view to whatever the channel happened to be transmitting next. Problem (1) has not reappeared since I upgraded to EyeTV 3. Problem (2) persists in version 3, but it's easy enough to deal with once you recognize what's just happened.
For my money the best improvement in version 3 is the new navigation bar in the play-recording screen. It makes navigating through a program so easy that I never bother with the "remote" controller any more.

"Unusable due to bugs and poor support."
Version: EyeTV 3.0.2

First off let's get real. If you don't have an Intel based mac, don't even bother. Second, there seem to be tons of Glitches everywhere..(hence the very long bugfix report) and at best falls very short on Tivo like features. Generally don't look to this setup to replace your DVR or Tivo box (as I did) You will find yourself very turned off by the lack of support from ElGato, and you will inevitably be returning the product (as I did). I am really looking to get rid of my Tivo, since I don't agree with subscription based services that can be handled on the hardware level. I am hoping Apple Will add DVR ability to their AppleTv. Apple are you reading? :) -
"Lame with Leopard.... c'mon now"
Version: EyeTV 3.0.1

All kinds of error messages when trying to copy or delete a program in EyeTV's Program list. Seems Leopard's Finder is NOT so compatable, at all.
ca-ching, ca-ching rules, I guess. -

EyeTV is Going DownHill - Poor Customer Support
I have been using this program for a long time now. The 2.5 works good, the editing features work great.
I bought v3.0 and it sucks. Now they have a new version 3.0.1 and you can only download the update.
We use an older mac to run the EyETV & TIVO copies and it is not connected to the internet.
Instead of hooking up a flash drive to install the update on the 3.0, we cannot update the program because there is no "stand-alone" update install software. Only a downloadable update option.
Let's make it harder for customers to update the software.
Even Microsoft offers "Standalone Download" Software Updates.
I cannot recommend EyeTV to my friends, it's not user friendly.
Stick to the vs. 2.5
