"vivid tv and easier to use"

    October 15, 2010  |   By irwin bedell

    Version: EyeTV 3.4.3

    Pros

The tv shows can be transferred to the iPod Touch.
Multicolored schedules makes for easier reading.
In case you misplace the included remote the Apple remote works fine as well.
I love captions in case of a phone call or other interruption.

    Cons

I am worried about the amount of heat produced by Eye Hybrid Tv.
It looks as though it is a fitting member of the Apple family of computers
but heat is the enemy no matter how it appears.

    Summary

I have used Eye Hybrid thru most of the hundred episodes of Monk, countless
NCSI adventures, actually look forward to new shows that appear in the summer.
I have a 52 inch incredible plasma but find the Eye Hybrid Tv a more practical device since It offers so much. I must admit that when I view my conventional
tv the picture blows me away. Miss mail and research or go conventional; I mostly
choose to watch tv on a smaller screen that my first Mac, the SE/30, which
    had a seven inch screen.

"Good software but less stable than it should be."

    August 15, 2010  |   By PaulKB

    Version: EyeTV 3.4.2

    Pros

EyeTV makes it very easy to use my iMac as a DVR

    Cons

EyeTV is not as stable as it should be. The software, very occasionally, will lock up requiring a force-quit. Fortunately the instability of EyeTV has not caused any lost recordings.

(iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB ram Snow Leopard 10.6.4)

    Summary

I love EyeTV (hence I gave it 4 stars). If Elgato improved the software's stability I would give it a rating of 5 stars. Elgato might stop adding new features and simply work on improving stability for the next point release!
EyeTV does what it was designed to do: it makes it easy to record TV programs and use my iMac as a PVR.

BTW I do not use an iPad, iPod or AppleTV so have not reviewed any of EyeTV's feature related to those products.

"Good featyre set-still requires better stability"

    July 31, 2010  |   By PaulKB

    Version: EyeTV 3.4.1

    Pros

EyeTV works well for me as a PVR. In other the feature set works as advertised.

    Cons

Since I do not use an iPad or a iPod I can not review those features.

I am only rating EyeTV 3/5 stars. If EyeTv was more stable and less pron to crash I would have rated the software 5/5 stars.

    Summary

Don't get me wrong, I love EyeTV. The software is very usable, I am simply very disappointed that Elgato has not been able to improve the software's stability. It crashes/freezes more than it should for software at version 3.

Maybe Elgato should take a cue from apple and hold off adding any new features to EyeTV and focus on producing a software product with better stability. I would recomend EyeTV but only with the caveat to be prepared for a product that is less stable than it should. Expect some crahes and freezes. Not a lot, but expect them,

"very useful and easy to use"

    June 25, 2010  |   By rmueller02

    Version: EyeTV 3.4

    Pros

It was easy to set up and does a very good job for me, which is digitizing old VHS tapes.

    Cons

I wish it was a bit easier to set up a recording. It is not difficult, just hidden a bit in the menus, I feel. I also wish it would just save my recording as a DV file and not make me export to iDVD or Toast first.

    Summary

For digitizing old VHS tapes, which is my main use so far, it works very well. It was easy to set up and use and has done a very nice job for me.

    "Poor support"

    June 23, 2010  |   By claes1

    Version: EyeTV 3.4

    Pros

    - Clean attractive interface
    - Mac application

    Cons

    - No transponder updates, complicated manual transponder add
    - Poorly implemented DVB EPG (please learn from competitors)
    - Complicated favorites set-up
    - Slow development of important features. Non important comes quickly, e.g. Vuvuzela Filter.

    Summary

If you have a PC stick with a range of better and cheaper alternatives. If not, take your money elsewhere.

"Now I have no Eye TV"

    June 2, 2010  |   By Gary1611

    Version: EyeTV 3.4

    Pros

    Don't know

    Cons

I thought this would be a simple upgrade but when I went to use it it started asking me for the product ID which I no longer have. So it also appears the install removed my original Eye TV so now I can't use it at all

    Summary

    See cons above.

    "Finally stable on 10.6.3"

    May 26, 2010  |   By PaulKB

    Version: EyeTV 3.4

    Pros

    Works as advertised.

    Cons

So far I have experienced no cons.

    Summary

If you have been having problems with previous versions of EyeTV 3 and Snow Leopard download this version. Version 3.3 would freeze occasionally. Version 3.4 so far has been stable and the problem with occasional freezes seems to have been solved.

    "Cable Card Slot please"

    October 30, 2009  |   By satcomer

    Version: EyeTV 3.2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Oh Elgato I do love your product. It is the best way to get TV into my Mac. However I do wish you would included a Cable Card slot into your devices. I know most US cable companies have to sell you a cable card if requested (they don't advertise this though).

"EyeTV 3.2 Full versiion Download and Eye TV for iPhone"

    October 12, 2009  |   By vitomercado

    Version: EyeTV 3.2

    Pros

    TV Streaming via Wireless Network.

    Cons

The download version has an add-on EyeTV Helper pop-up prompt. You cannot deleat or disable. Annoying because pop up on launch and log on. Lauch time is 30 sec to 1 min and UNRESPONSIVE. Streaming for EyeTV for iPhone POOR even at 800kbps.

    Summary

EyeTV download install an add-on which I do not need. It cannot be delated from log on account on a MacBook. The pop-up appears on log and launch. The launch is very slow 30 sec to 1 min and UNREPONSIVE. Streaming for EyeTV for iPhone is choppy and oftentimes cut-off. Even increasing to 800kbps setting. Streaing is limited to one device only. There is NO telephone support for the product.
