"THE BADDEST FONT MANAGMENT APPLICATION...."
Version: Extensis Suitcase 12.0.1
Summary

Do not buy this version!!!! It is INSTABLE and DOESN'T WORK under Tiger and CS2 (also with CS1)!! Creating sets take a very LONG time and almost everytime causes CRASH. Opening a set with more than 250 fonts take LONG time and always cause crash (in the X1 version I was able to open sets with more than 1000 fonts in 2 seconds). In combination with OSX TIGER your CLOSED SETS are disposable in your font list under CS2!!!! Very Bad! :( - I will come back to my previous configuration: Mac OS Panther 10.3.9, Suitcase X1 (11.0.2) and CS1. I will not BUY any new Extensis application because their support service is bad as their application. -
"Longtime Suitcase user switching to FontAgent Pro"
Version: Extensis Suitcase 12.0.1
Summary

After fighting with Suitcase Fusion (I "upgraded" the day it was released), I have finally decided to switch to FontAgent Pro so I can try to get some work done. There are three deal breaking issues that I have had with Fusion:
1. Font auto "activation" doesn't work and is extremely slow. Activating fonts with QuarkXPress 6.5 can take 5+ minutes for a document with only 1 or 2 font families used. Then after all the pop-up "activating" dialog boxes, the fonts are still not activated! I have to go the the Suitcase program and manually activate them.
2. When creating PDFs from Quark via Print (not export as PDF), Distiller doesn't "see" that the document fonts are activated. I have to go into the Distiller font locations dialog and tell distiller where to find the fonts. I thought this was because I was using the Suitcase Vault, but even disabling the Vault feature, I still have trouble with embedding fonts.
3. Activating fonts with Adobe Illustrator CS2 causes Illustrator to freeze. Then on subsequent attempts to launch, Illustrator many times will freeze during plugin loading. The only way to fix it to trash suitcase prefs and illustrator prefs. -

"Almost Useless"
Version: Extensis Suitcase 12.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This version is almost useless - it crashes, or it wont quit or start up at times, it locks up freqently when activating fonts etc - I've spent more time killing this app than using it... it's dreck - as was all Suitcase software before it - you'd think they'd get it right by now - but no - they're the same inept morons they always were.
I've switched to Lynotype Explorer X - It works like a charm, very professional, and best of all FREE - Get it! Use it! - and throw away anything with the name Extensis on it.

"Keeps getting better!"

Works great! X1 was almost unusable in Tiger. Fusion has been working flawlessly so far! For the most part I don't use FontSense and Fusion seems to think some fonts are damaged when X1 didn't. -
"Leading edge font utility"
Version: Extensis Suitcase 12.0
Summary

Suitcase Fusion is the most advanced font utility. However, there are a few issues with FontSense. Many output/printing problems can be avoided by turning off FontSense. I understand a fix is on the way from Extensis. -
"Works a treat for me.."
Version: Extensis Suitcase 12.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Of the 4,200 odd fonts I've added to the Vault there were a few older fonts (pre 1996) that caused a few probems but I wasn't sure if this was down to Tiger not supporting them or if it was Fusion.
Activating fonts seems to be fast and accurate. The ability to search by 'classification' is fantastic. How Fusion does this is a bit of a mystery but it's definately made life 10x easier. (I decided to upgrade for this one feature) The other feature I'm growing to appreciate is is the ability to export the fonts with my jobs.
Before buying I tested both FontExplorer and Font Agent Pro but both seemed to be slower than Fusion. Without activation plug-ins for CS2 they seem to be too clunky for my workflow.
As a tip if you're using Fusion with CS2 make sure you're on CS2 4.0.1 -
"Needs Work - Stick with X1"

Fusion constantly locks up my system when it encounters bad fonts. I have one customer in particular that always causes me problems. Same fonts worked on X1. My advice, stay away until there is a patch. -

"Extremely poor..."
Version: Extensis Suitcase 12.0
Summary

A few of you may have noticed my glowing review of suitcase just days after release. After a nightmare few weeks at the hands of fusion I have finally threw in the towel and moved back to FontAgent Pro. There's no point in me repeating what's already been said in the posts below but this software is extremely poor and needs a lot of work before I could seriously use this in a production environment. FontAgent Pro 3.1 is nothing short of exceptional .
