Although it basically performs only one simple job, this free, speedy program still stands as an attractive CD-ripping option. Express Rip's interface echoes its limited functionality, with just a few basic buttons for ripping and playing CDs. However, we did think the icons for ejecting and loading a disc were a bit needless. The program can extract files only to MP3 and WAV formats, but at least it lets you rip tunes in the space-saving VBR mode and choose the audio quality. Similar to all competent rippers, this one can access the online CDDB to automatically retrieve album and artist information, though this feature won't work if you're culling songs from a burned CD. Happily, the program demonstrates good speed, ripping a 15-track disc in only a couple of minutes. Folks looking for a basic, easy-to-use ripping application, that won't cost them a dime, should definitely consider Rip Express.Publisher's description
From NCH Software :Express Rip is a Windows program that lets you extract digital-audio tracks directly from audio CDs to either WAV or MP3 files on your hard drive. By using direct digital extraction, pure audio quality is maintained and the process is very fast.
Extract many other file formats including wma, m4q, aac, aiff and more using Express Rip Plus. Save track information or 'tags' (including title, artist, album and more) to mp3 files or create custom information. Also save tags to wave files using the CART and BWF methods. This is one of the few CD rippers that can do this.
Automatically link to an online database to obtain track and album name information. Have complete control over mp3 encoding, including constant and variable modes at selectable bitrates. Can be run from the command line for integration with other applications (Plus version). Version 1.53 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.
