"Seems To Be Incompatible With Comodo Firewall"

    January 31, 2013   |   By tonester59

Version: ExploitShield Browser Edition 0.8.1 beta

    Pros

Great idea - browser app to block 0-Day attacks where they occur. Installs easily and requires minimal disc space while running silently in the background.

    Cons

After I installed ExploitShield, none of my browsers would open. When I turned it off, they opened fine. ( It may be notable that my Comodo Firewall produced no alerts at all during installation, which is unusual when installing new software.) I uninstalled it, and checked the ES website and checked for known issues - sure enough, one of their beta-testers had found it to be incompatible with Comodo, producing the results I described. Just to be sure, I installed it again with the same results.

    Summary

I have to say that I'm really 'bummed, as I really wanted to try this out. When they get the bugs out, it will make for an outstanding security app to protect against very real threats. But since I'm not ready to change firewalls, I'll have to wait until this issue is addressed. Until then, I wish the developers all the best, as I feel that this is an important security issue that not all browsers and a/v programs can protect against.
