Everything is a search engine for Windows that replaces the normal Windows search with a much faster one. Unlike Windows search, Everything initially displays every file and folder on your computer. You can type in a search filter to limit what files and folders are displayed. Everything only uses file and folder names and generally takes a few seconds to build its database. 1,000,000 files will take about 1 minute.

"It really works, Search Everything easily and quickly"

Pros
Simply, it finds files and anything else, amazing nothing MS offers does anything like this search.
Cons
I haven't found one. Sometimes when WMP loses a file I have to search by date... if Search Everything does that, I have not learned how (WMP will lose the name of a file then not allow me to rerecord it, baffling, showing it already copied, sigh)

I have been informed by the owner of this software that is plaqued with malware from the www.download.com website. the owner ask asked that it be removed from cnet, but they do not comply. If you want this software, download from somewhere else

Amazingly simple, fast, and efficient. Works like a charm.

I'm a little perplexed by this utility requiring approval to run each time you sign into Windows. It requires just a single mouse click to authorize running the program, but it seems there ought to be a way to make the program work without the system asking for approval every time it's started. I adjusted all the settings I know how to control, but none of the changes I made seemed to have an effect. My system still asks for approval each time this program starts.
Summary
I've used this utility for about a week and for the most part, I'm very, very pleased. However, the one issue I have with it is the need to approve running it each time it's started after signing into Windows. Other than that, I would have given EVERYTHING CNet's five-star rating.

none; any nit-pick I could offer is simply obliterated by the usefulness of this amazing program.
Summary
This is not just my favorite search app, but probably my favorite app of all time. It blows my mind that a tiny program written by one man and offered for free can be unmatched by anything else available. Please don't mistake my high praise for hyperbole - it's just that fantastic of a program. You've got to give this app a try.

"YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED THIS"

This program is small, portable, fast, and it does excatly what it says it does. It quickly catalouges EVERY singe file on your computer, on EVERY drive, and lets you search through them lightning fast. For example open it up, wait a sec for it to compile, and type in .mp3 to see EVERY single mp3 file on your computer! You'll often be suprised at what's there you didn't know about. Also if you are search for a file on your computer, now you ACTUALLY have a powerfull tool to find it. Windows built in search is pathetic in general, but ESPECIALLY compared to this. Why can't windows have thorough search capabilities built in?
Cons
One time it broke because it searched through a network drive and later that network drive was not connected. I re-installed and it fixed the problem
Summary
This tool is incredibly helpful. There is nothing more frustrating that not being able to find a file on your computer, and windows search is weak and often completely insufficient. This program is AWESOME.

Summary
I wanted a simple, very fast search for folders, files and email. Didn't need a bulky do-it-all search. This one is great for those items. To search with Windows for "startup" folder was 24 seconds. With Everything is was instant.

None. I'm not willing to give administrative access to a program that has no justifiable grounds for needing it, so I've not seen what it can do.

Summary
As far as I am concerned, requiring an administrator password every time the computer is booted is absolutely appalling. I only want it to search locations that the current user can actually access, so there is no need for it to require administrative access (unless it's doing stuff that it shouldn't). Windows 7's own search doesn't need admin access, and I don't want a search tool that does anything more than that one does, I just want one that does the same but with a usable interface.

Between movies, music, applications and documents, i have literally thousands of files on 4 different hard drives. When im searching for a movie for example, i can add all the folders in the exclude section of this program that i dont want to search, and find the movies, song, or document that much faster. Exactly what i was looking for. Now if we could get some plugins and made this program open source, i believe this application could be made into something that is legendary. It has the potential. Just as we were tired of searching with Yahoo, AOL and Jeeves in 1998, Google came along and showed us how we need to search the internet. I am tired of using Windows default search, and i am grateful that i found this program. Its simplistic design allows you to begin searching the minute you open it, and then come to find out, it has more option to customize your search with Regex, add searches to Windows context, and much, much more.

"Excellent little program"

I don`t know why someone complained about file content, double clicking opens the file or the location,this is a quick and very easy to use program,you can even delete files from the list.
Cons
It does excactely what it says so therefore there are absolutely no cons and beside that it is FREE!

I have had this program on my computer for the last 2 years and it has saved me a lot of time searching.
