Functional and useful, Evernote goes beyond its architecture and is also interesting. It's a true three-platform play: it works very well, and somewhat differently, on desktop computers, mobile phones, and over the Web.
Evernote is a good note-taking application. If you have the Evernote application running on your camera phone, it will automatically upload your snapshots to the Evernote server, creating a useful archive of them. But the killer feature is that it also does OCR on your images so you can find them later by searching for text in them. Use this tool to snap pictures of products you see in stores and want to remember, to grab whiteboards in meetings, and to take pictures of people with name tags at conferences. It's one of those utilities that might just change your life.
Everything you do on your phone and on your computer gets synchronized to your Evernote account on the Web. Since it synchronizes as soon as you log on, and regularly thereafter, reinstalling the software or losing data because of a crash are nonfatal problems.
Do note that the Web-based text editor isn't keystroke compatible with the PC-based editor. It makes switching between the two experiences confusing. The free version offers 40MB per month for uploading and unpredictable OCR performance, while $45 a year gets you a 500MB a month allowance, priority OCR, better security features, and support.

Pros: I just love the paper-rool interface, it is a great way to take notes just like you would do in a real life notebook. The categories allow you to keep the notes organized ad filter them.
Also has a timeline feature to order notes by date and the search is instant. On the paid version the search is able to search in hand writen notes.
There are extensions for firefox, thunderbird, and IE to send notes with links to evernote even when evernote is not open. by just touching an icon.(in the 1.5 beta there is also an outlook plugin)
Cons: Does not support voice recording like in Onenote.
Still there is no version for smartphones (it has been in development for more than a year) Onenote 2007 Beta provides an excellent smartphone version.

Pros: I love the cleanliness and orderliness of this product. It's a lot easier than using a word processing program or notepad to arrange things. All my school notes can be in one place.

"Not just for Notebooks/Tablets"
Pros: I primarily use this program on a desktop platform. I find it is nearly perfect for my needs. It is extremely useful in information gathering, reasearch and organizing small projects.
With the proper extension you can add webpages with a simple right click from Mozilla Firefox as well as Internet Exporer.
I love the fact that this can be accomplished even if the program isn't open. If the program isn't running and you choose to add information from a Web Browser, you can pick which database/file to add to( as long as these databases/files were opened at least once).
File Templates allow you to customize the types of notes you add.
Cons: When the program is running information from web pages is always added to the open file. I'd like the ability to choose which database/file to add to.
