"More annoying than old Eudora"
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
Similar look and feel to old Eudora but without ad box.
Transferred most of my Eudora settings seamlessly.Cons
Opens all mailboxes in separate windows, not tabs.
Insists on 'clearing' every message from new source for graphics and sorting addresses in stupid unclear categories.
Sometimes reverts to 3 pane view by itself.Summary
Mostly works like original Eudora but has several of the annoying features of Thunderbird, such as the 'remote content' nag and the stupid sorting of email addresses. Sometimes reverts to default settings by itself. Today opened up all mailboxes in separate windows instead of tabs on its own.

"It is not well designed."
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
The user interface is similar to old Eudora 7.0. A good thing for faithful Eudora users like myself.
Cons
I does not work. The integration with Thunderbird engine is not accomplished and is defective. It duplicates and confuses the mailboxes, you never know where a message will end up. Shameful design, acknowledged by its developers as "a feature".
Summary
If Thunderbird was a scandal, at least in its initial versions (I have lost thousands of messages because they simply vanished from Thunderbird), this pseudo clone of Eudora seems to me to be still worst.
How many tens of thousands ow work hours lost in spoiling a perfectly working application like Eudora into a defective and unnecessary substitute!!! -
"Looks similar to Classic Eudora but lacks some features"
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
Looks like classic Eudora
Imports classic Eudora accounts, mail and folder structuresCons
Unable to say WHERE customisations and mail to be kept
Uses last used mail account when replying to email from a different accountSummary
Almost there

"A faint shadow of the previous versions"
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
I wish I knew!
Cons
Counter-intuitive design
Takes forever to figure outSummary
I love Eudora. I've been using it exclusively since the mid-90s. I still am, but I'm sticking with the well-designed and easy to figure out 7.1.0.9 version as long as it works (which isn't quite like the good old days but not worth abandoning for a lousy new product). The initial flaw is that there is no header to tell you who the email is from. Apparently this is correctable but I have yet to have any success with that. Previous versions just naturally did this. If you like spending your time fiddling with software to try to get it to work for you, then this might be your baby. I hope they come out with a practical version someday.

"Could not make it work on Vista"
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
None -- it bombed
Cons
I have no idea -- nothing worked for me (I've been a Eudora user for at least a decade).
Summary
Turns out that everything about Eudora 7.1.0.9 works under Vista except the Help functions -- but I worry that it may begin to fail and I don't want to have to learn to use any other email that I've tried, from gmail to Outlook Express. I may try OSE after upgrading to Windows 7.

"Basic to Professional Users Will Like Eudora OSE 1.0"
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
Eudora OSE 1.0 has the same STARTTLS technology as Thunderbird, so you spend more time reading email than downloading it. Attractive buttons also help you get to your email faster. You get nice-looking email and less SPAM.
Cons
I think my video card caused it to not open at first. People who seldom use email clients will have trouble using its more innovative features. It's a little too powerful in features for a few text messages every now and then.
Summary
It's an email client that looks richer than Outlook Express, Thunderbird and SeaMonkey. This is something different for the so-called nerds out there. Both new users and old can find interesting features in this client. This version is a little shaky, but a copy of Thunderbird will concurrently backup your email if something gets deleted. However, I found the "Safe" version that came with it worked whenever the application crashed.

"Not as efficient, good, or easy as original Eudora."
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
Somewhat similar to original Eudora. Good archiving features.
Cons
Not easy to simply close a file, while still in the in-box, to look at again some other time. Once the program is installed, and the old mail boxes are imported from Eudora 7, You can not import again, to update your imprts or new mail,.
Summary
I do like it, since I have always liked Eudora, but it can still use a few tweeks.

"I love Eudora OSE 1.0 It does everything I need to do!"
Version: Eudora OSE 1.0
Pros
I may be a bit biased as I think of this product because I have used Eudora light and Eudora Pro since about the late 80s. So this product has really grown on me. It's easy to configure, easy to use, easy to copy and back up and to carry with me.
Cons
I have not found a way to stop it from remembering addresses I no longer use. Even though some addresses are no longer in my address book, they pop up when I start typing the name of a recipient.
Summary
I like the fact that I can save the contact list, import it and export it from and to other programs. Saving or moving the mailboxes with all their contents is not cumbersome as it is with Thunderbird or Outlook or Outlook Express. I love the fact that this version does NOT have any distracting advertising. One does not have to work in a little window; this program can be opened to cover the full screen. Hey, don't forget that this is a FREE program!!! In my opinion it beats most of the so-called "professional" editions of other brands. I was extremely sad when Eudora 7.1 was not followed by newer versions.
