"DON'T buy this product!"
Version: Error Fix 3
Pros
Fixed initial problem; may have caused more.
Cons
Takes forever to get responses to "Live chat." Planted unbelievable amount of malware.
Summary
I bought the service, on the recommendation of CNET, in May of 2009. It took forever to get responses in "live" chat; in fact, I wasn't sure it was actual humans I was dealing with. They fixed the problem, I thought. Then I had another problem and asked for a refund. Of course, they gave me a bunch of doubletalk and asked for access to my computer again. I refused. Forgive me for not remembering the details of the transactions this much later.
HOWEVER, I was having issues with my computer in November, and a friend suggested downloading Malwarebytes (free download), which did a thorough scan of my computer. The whole time, only 2 errors came up. And then, 727--yes, 727--malware items came up in the Error Fix files. I don't know that this was the cause of my issues, but Malwarebytes got rid of the malware. And then I deleted the Error Fix files from my computer, which is now fine. -
"Don't Bother Downloading"
Version: Error Fix 3
Pros
"Optimizes" (see cons) certain things such as internet connection and registry.
Cons
I did a full scan with Spyware Doctor (very picky scanner; it counts harmless things such as cookies, it even admits those are sometimes even useful) and it counted Error Fix as 5 out of 6 treat level. Error Fix does little without paying.
Summary
It might be a legitimate program that just gets picked on by virus protection. CNET thought this. However, unless you buy the full version, not much can be done with this trial.

"DO NOT BUY or DOWNLOAD"
Version: Error Fix 3
Pros
I can't recommend one thing about this software because all it did was cause me big problems.
Cons
It really messed up my computer. I've never seen a blue-screen computer crash before. Now I see them 2-3 times every day. I have written to the company 4 times and they are no help or they don't respond at all.
Summary
I asked for a refund but of course got no reply.

"LOADED MALWARE ON PC; SENT MALWARE OUT WITH EMAIL"
Version: Error Fix 3
Pros
NONE--this download put MALWARE on my PC.
Cons
MALWARE ON MY MACHINE ALL RELATED TO THIS PRODUCT
Summary
I scanned my machine before the download. I wanted to clean up and speed up my machine which is reaching a critical full disk stage. Normally I would check software out before downloading. However, relying on CNET's review I did not this time. AM I SORRY! First day I received an email that a state agency firewall found malware in a message I sent out to 30 people. WHen I scanned with Nortons it found over 200 malware entries all related to errorfix.com software.I have spent hours cleaning my hard drive and repairing it.

"Wipes out necessary items; loaded with spyware"
Version: Error Fix 3
Pros
None. This program does not differentiate between spyware/maleware, but just deletes everything!
Cons
I PAID for this software. My computer was completely wiped clearn of fast-launch items, Active-X applications, etc.. Their Registry Restore , and XP Restore functions, and finally removing it entirely , made matters worse!
Summary
This is the worst piece of spyware on the market I have tried. It wiped my computer clean of necessary items, and even after a registry restore and a complete system restore, I found I could not boot up my computer, nor connect to the interent. After those problems were fixed, the next time I booted up, found various errors stating I did not have this file, or this dll. When I checked on forums.whirlpool.net.au, they stated "there are many spyware detectors that are, in fact, malware themselves." The fix was Auto Runs, and there it was, a registry key that included the .dll that my computer could not find to run. I have requested a refund for this product, but it has been 3 days since I have heard from them. BEWARE of this spyware - in fact DON'T DOWNLOAD IT, EVEN IN THE TRIAL VERSION. IT IS DANGEROUS!!!
