"Great, when it works."
Version: Eraser 6.0.9.2343
Pros
Different levels of deletion.
Cons
Had it installed and working. But, something happened that; it won't let me repair it; uninstall and reinstall doesn't work either. Continues to boot with error message.
Summary
Overall, a great product. I have used it for years.

"Rendered my computer useless"
Version: Eraser 6.0.9.2343
Pros
Simple interface
Cons
I ran this once to clean up my harddrov and it deleted essentail system files and now my computer is completely useless. My computer will boot up but the hard drive just keeps churning and each program literally takes 5 minutes to launch (if at all). It even deleted my system restore files, so its not possible for me to revert back to an earlier restore point. Now I must somehow find a windows disk to reinstall the OS (my computer did not come with a disk from the OEM).
Summary
I do not see any other reviews on this site with my same issue. However, I am reasonably computer savvy and I believed what I was doing was safe (and cannot completely rule out user error as I have never tried to do anything like this before). But beware that you can really mess up your system using this utility.

"Doesn't always work!"
Version: Eraser 6.0.9.2343
Pros
Easy to use.
Cons
I ran this program with a single pass over the free space on Drive C, after which I still found over a thousand file fragments! I thought "That is strange", so I ran the three pass UD DoD and left it run for many hours. When it finished I searched the free space and again found all of the same old file fragments! They were still there and many could still be recovered or partially recovered.
Summary
The only way I could get this program to work was by copying large numbers of files of varying sizes from one drive to another to the point of almost filling it. Then I ran the eraser tool to permanently delete the copied files. Only then did the free space on that drive reveal no file fragments.

"Previous Version Much Easier"
Version: Eraser 6.0.9.2343
Pros
Sorta kinda erases stuff. I have had some success rightclicking a file and telling it to erase but not the recycle bin or free space==see cons below.
Cons
I can't get it to erase the recycle bin in Windows 7. Can't figure out how to get it to erase free space either.
Summary
The earlier version was very easy use to use.
Select the recycle bin and tell it to erase. Done. Tell it to erase the free space on the hard drives. Easy. The new version. YUCK!!!
I thought I hadn't figured out something in the new version (I prob haven't but then it shouldn't be this complicated) and then I read reviews where many others are just as lost as I am. -
"I LIKE VERSION 5 BETTER"
Version: Eraser 6.0.9.2343
Pros
Nicer looking interfface
Cons
Harder to use and more difficult to setup
Summary
With version 5, you can open it, click on one button and it will start erasing all the free space on your hard drive. With this new version, that is more difficult to do. Also, the new version opens with every reboot, presents a command line screen and you have to manually close it. Pain in the neck.

Cons

-
"Stick with Version 5 of this software."
Version: Eraser 6.0.8.2273
Pros
Erases files and cleans up slack space.
Cons
Does not integrate as well with the OS as the previous version.
Summary
If you have the previous version, stick with it. Better OS integration.

"Gutman sinon rien!"
Version: Eraser 6.0.8.2273
Pros
Eraser vs Recuva:
Summary
A n'utiliser qu'avec Gutman et a faire tourner pendant la nuit

"Erases all files and empty space quickly"
Version: Eraser 6.0.8.2273
Pros
Works well
Multiple options for sweeps
Can salt free space with file fragmentsCons
Progress bar could do with a timer
Activity Icon would be useful, deleting large amounts of space make it look as though it has stalledSummary
It needs to run with Administrative Privileges to allow it to delete all files and free space.

"Doesn't work -- "Completed with Errors""
Version: Eraser 6.0.8.2273
Pros
Installs and un-installs quickly and cleanly.
Cons
Doesn't erase free space.
Summary
I've tried unsuccessfully many times to get this software to delete my free space using the Gutmann 35 Pass method, but whether I run it immediately or schedule it for a specific time, it always comes back within a few seconds and reports "Completed with Errors." There is about 250GB of free space on my drive, so I know it's not completing anything, just erroring.
