For those of us who need to communicate mathematical formulas in email, this program is a god-send. write up an equation in LaTeX, select the text and then press command-/. A nicely formatted image of the equation is inserted where the text was, at high enough resolution for printouts to look pretty good.
Use the program directly to generate larger images or higher-resolution output.
Simple and effective software. -

A friend and I visited a furniture store once, a long time ago, and I sat in an incredibly comfortable chair. He tried it out, looked at me, and said, "Why aren't all chairs like this?" I got exactly the same feeling when using Equation Service with Mail.app: why don't all e-mail programs work like this? I've been sending notes back and forth to colleagues with ugly $y=sum_{j=0}^{J}j^{\\pi}$-esque stuff for quite some time. It just occurred to me to wonder whether there might not be something better out there, and voilà, here it is! Top ratings. Easy to use, beautiful, free, thank you thank you thank you!
