    "Entouraid saved the day!"

    November 18, 2011  |   By marioandretti

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Pros

I'm using a non Intel ibook 1,33 on 10.4.11 and Office v.X A fter placing an ad I started receiving lots of e-mails with big attachments.I read some, most were unread. After shutting the ibook down, I could not open Entourage anymore. Database size was 2,7 gb, but rebuilding wasn't possible. I tried loads of stuff Not enough space..Compacting 2,7 GB made it bigger then the max 4GB? Tried it in Entourage 2004 because that hasn;t got the 4 GB limit, Nothing worked. After some googling found "Entourage Export Import" seems good, but way to difficult for me. `'Stellar" did not retrieve a single item in trial mode. Entouraid found 20 mails in trial mode and I was aible to read them, by placing the created mbox file in a clean Entourage set up. After paying 18 dollars I asked for a serialnumber by e-mail and got it. I let Entouraid retrieve mails out of the last 700 MB. lt found some 500 e-mails. Not all readable but especially the e-mails with attachments were safed! and those I needed!

    Cons

You have to be patient because you can't see the progress, isn't a serious con though.

If you download it you are probabvly in deep **** and you would like the serial number ASAP.

    Summary

I was in some deep **** and Entouraid pulled me out! I am a normal user and I find this to be easy tyo do fore someone with basic computer knowledge (knowing how to download and install software and with knowledge about Entourage database rebuilding .

    Updated on Nov 18, 2011

I only retrieved e-mails out of the last 700 mb (just a guess) because I had a working backed up database from 1 week before

    "Does not work effectively"

    September 24, 2010  |   By anax9211

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Pros

    Cheaper software
    Small in size
    Fast scanning

    Cons

This product as the following disadvantages-
    - Does not work with Microsoft Entourage 2008 and 2004
    - Difficult to use with non-technical users.

    - Not a powerful tool to handle all types of corruption

    Summary

I have used two Entourage recovery software before writing this review, one is EntourAid (http://www.thepropellerheads.com) and other one is Stellar Pheonix Entourage Repair (http://www.msentouragerecovery.com). This tool was comparatively less effective and useful.

    "One great product"

    May 21, 2010  |   By jaygamel

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
An older friend's Entourage db was so badly corrupted she could hardly use her computer. A rebuild of the 3.2 gig original presented a 4 gb atrocity that not only gagged Entourage, but froze the Mac. EntourAid at $18 sucked out over 8,000 emails, addresses and attachments in little under an hour, without splitting the db.

It will take awhile to restore my friend's 10 year old address book and favorite mails, but they are recovered, with little fuss, and she is breathing steadily once again.

The developer/owner Sol continues to maintain this gem of a program which is worth much more than the asking price.

I ran it on a Mac intel duo running 10.5.8, having transferred the corrupt db. Did the sorting and importing here for purposes of speed and will reload her iBook running 10.4.11 later.

    Thank you Sol.

"EntourAid - Brilliant for us Non-Techies"

    September 23, 2009  |   By kennygoodman

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Having lost all of my emails because of a corruption in one of my identities on entourage I was puling my hair out trying to find something that I could use. There was lots of techie stuff out there with very little instructions for non techies and then I fell upon entouraid and managed to recover most of my emails. The instructions were simple and then when I had a little problem the developer got back to me straight away and fixed it.

Great product and great people to deal with

    "EntourAid recovered 26GB Entourage database!"

    February 11, 2009  |   By SummerShimizu

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I had insanely huge database to recover for a company's director who I work for. He kept almost everything for last five years. Since he deals with many design work, he had a lot of big attachment files. His Entourage database became 26GB and it now corrupted. (Of course... I know the size is unbelievable...) He uses Entourage 2008 on Mac 10.5.

Whatever I tried didn't work and it took for ages to apply one solution as the database was just TOO BIG! After I spent for a few weeks of trying, I decided to go with EntourAid. I received a license as soon as I paid off through PayPal. That was pretty quick and easy, and I had no problem with the process.

I tried to split the 26GB file with the Splitter but didn't do anything, i.e., didn't work. I left the program running (? Not sure it was doing anything) over night. Next morning, the screen was the same as previous day. It was just too big for anything. So I sent an email to http://www.thepropellerheads.com/ for an advice and they replied to me on the same day. (I'm located in NZ so I assume there are some time differences but if you are in the same time zone, I'm sure Sol will reply to your email quicker than the same day!)

Sol advised me to run a command line. Here is her email.

    =================
Splitter is only a user-friendly interface for a command inherent in OS X, however we've been getting reports of problems running Splitter in OS X Tiger. Instead of using Splitter, this may help: our resident geek filmed a short movie on how to use terminal to split a file

    http://www.thepropellerheads.com/dumpstuff/

It?s a quicktime zipped file; 3 MB or so.

The files will be saved in your Home folder (usually denoted by the House icon) as xaa, xab, xac... Etc.

Note that in the instruction " split -b 40m", 40m means 40 megabytes, meaning each segment will be 40 megabytes. So you can actually change the size of each segment by changing "40m" to something else, for example: "100m" for 100 megabytes.

    =================

The command line I was advised to run worked perfectly. It was a very quick job too. I wish I knew this before I used the Splitter and it was stated as a troubleshooting for the tool on their website.

I initially split the 26GB database into 1GB and 100MB, and they were split well but didn't successfully import into Entourage.

So I sent another email to Sol for any advices and I was told to split smaller. 40MB segment was perfectly imported back to the Entourage. (FINALLY)

Here is another reply from Sol.

    ===============
    Progress!

1/ for the first segment, try splitting into smaller parts 2/ seriously, a 26 GB file is insanely huge; and importing 1 GB at a time back into Entourage or Apple Mail is pretty scary! Do it manually.

For Entourage, go to File>Import>Import from Text File>Mbox formatted file. Give it time, the recovered messages should appear as a sub-folder of your Inbox 3/ For Apple Mail, similar process: File>Import Mailboxes>mbox... Etc

    Good luck
    ===============

Probably it would be great idea to be documented on their website, i.e., what the recommendation segment sizes are.

Some 40MB segments recover 0 email but at least we get some email back, it?s more than helpful. I think this isn?t the tool?s ability, it is my user?s email must got something really big attachment over 40MB. I remember I saw only 1 email was recovered when I was running a recovery program on 1GB segment.

I received some error messages while using the Spliter and EntoAid:

    AppleScriptError
Split 2.792463899E+9: illegal byte count (64)

    Can?t get text 108 thru -1 ?eturn-url=order%2dhistory%2dfiltered&page=help@fya%2dsign%2din%2dsecure%2ehtml&opt=ab&method=POST\\?>Access?

If you have a trouble using this program or payment, you should email to info@thepropellerheads.com. Because you will hear from them straight away within 24 hours. (well, my cases were all well turning around time.) What I suggest you to do are: split the database by command, keep the segments a lot smaller, import the .mbox file manually from the menu rather than dragging .mbox into the Email application. If you have no luck, email them.

Sol from the Propeller Heads supported me very well. All responds were reasonable quick and always within 24 hours or a lot less. My questions were well answered, never been ignored and I was even encouraged too.

I definitely recommend anyone who has a trouble with a corrupted Entourage database. This now proved that it can even fix a big file such as 26GB (!!!!) Entourage database.

In addition, the interface and process are very simple and easy which is always great thing about the application.

So thank you so much for your support and great tool. Both my user and I are appreciated deeply.

    "Works pretty well"

    February 3, 2008  |   By ataylor1

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Had no problem getting the serial number after Paypal.

I had a few problems along the way, but will post here the workarounds. I started with a 99% scan, which only recovered 2694 emails, and gave an error message
    Can't get text 77 thru -1 of "eturn-url=order-history-filtered&page=help%2Fya-sign-in-secure.html\">Access ".

I carefully created a spreadsheet, systematically ran Entouraid 99 times and figured out exactly where it was stumbling. Saved each .mbox file with a unique name, for ex:
    RecoveredEmails99.mbox
    (See here for my spreadsheet:)
    http://www.taylorinteractive.com/EntourageRecovery.xls
I only kept the yellow highlighted .mbox files.

After creating all these .mbox files, I launched Entourage from an old backup, dragged the .mbox files one at a time into the Inbox as a subfolder, and I am a happy camper. To avoid hitting the 2GB error again, I have deleted a ton of stuff, especially sent mail with large attachments. After deleting, be sure to maintain the database by holding Option when launching Entourage.

Note: since I had a (out of date from a few months ago) backup, I discovered that the low percentage numbered scans had the most recent emails. So I actually only needed RecoveredEmails8.mbox and RecoveredEmails16.mbox to restore my missing (recent) emails.

    "DON'T BLOW YOUR MONEY"

    August 18, 2005  |   By jcurrysf

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This program recovered less than 5% of my database, and most of the emails it did recover lacked subjects, dates, and other important info. This was really a letdown. Save your $$.

"Will NOT recover contacts, only emails"

    April 28, 2005  |   By VersionTrackerUserOpinion

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
PROBLEM: Entourage gave me an "errors 4360" when I tried to form and email group. When I restarted my Mac, Entourage would not start up >> "unknown error". Spent hour on phone w/ MS, they said it had to be corrupt database.

ENTOURAID: I downloaded the trial and it worked for 20 emails recovered. Then bought it for the $18. I would give it a "C" rating. It scavenged about 600 emails, both old deleted useless ones and important saved ones, BUT most of them were scrambled eggs inside. However, most importantly, I was able to import the recovered database emails from Entouraid into the MAC Mail, and used them as "contacts" since the program did not save ANY of my 2,500 email contacts.

LESSON LEARNED: Never trust MS with you data --> USE MAC OSX not MS !!!

    "doesn't work"

    February 12, 2004  |   By ashleykaryl

    Version: EntourAid 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This software continuously fails to to save the recovered e-mails in a format that can be imported into Entourage. In theory it should work, but in practice it doesn't and I am using Panther 10.3.2 with the latest version of Entourage. I wrote to the developer 3 times, but have not received any response, so I think its safe to say that this is also unsupported software. $18 down the drain.
