"Excellent Software for academics"
Version: EndNote 10.0
Pros
Top Quality, Very Fast and Instant results
Cons
Needs training before using.
Summary
I was told during my Master Degree in UK to use it for reference purposes. It did its job by saving my valuable time. Instead of writing each and everything reference into the Word Document and them format it according to Harvad style was a nightware "by hand" but by using this software it was just a piece of cake. Highly recommanded for acadamics otherwise no use for "ordinary people".

"Bad, bad, bad"
Version: EndNote 10.0
Pros
Pros? It is ubiquitous in the academic world, but that's just because people don't find the time to seek and learn a new reference management software. Ubiquitousness is EndNote's only pro.
Cons
See summary below
Summary
This is an utterly mediocre and problematic piece of software. It's as if EndNote lives in the past as far as software usability and reliability go. This is how unstable, primitive and timewasting computer programs were about 10 years or so ago! I don't even want to think how many hours of my time this program has wasted while I was trying to fill in for what *it* should have done!
Myself and several of my colleagues have long migrated to other reference management software, which are open-source AND much, much better than EndNote in every sense possible. To give just a few examples: JabRef, BibDesk, Zotero. It is just the corporate might of Thomson Scientific that's sustaining EndNote - this, and nothing more. In the era of excelent free software, this bloated, incompetent piece of rubbish called EndNote will not survive much longer.
