Electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) is a software program designed to replace paper notebooks. ELNs in general are used by scientists and technicians to document, store, retrieve, and share electronic records to meet legal, regulatory, technical and scientific requirements. An ELN is often maintained to be a legal document and may be used in a court of law as evidence. Similar to an inventor's notebook, the ELN is referred to in patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation. ELNs have the advantage of being easier to search, support collaboration among many users, and more secure than paper counterparts. The app includes the following: Creation of multiple notebooks to track numerous research projects, notebook page creations within each created notebook, a drawing app to insert equations or drawings into the note pages, a map for field researchers, a website database for tracking research websites, a user database to track users, an inspection database for QA/QC or other inspections of the research project(s), a location database to track field research locations, a contact database to track research associates, and an email database to track emails. Tab 1: Cover Page. Opens to standard Lab Notebook cover. Tab 2: Notebook. Add as many note books as needed. To add first click on (Notebook) at top right corner click + icon to add notebook (click date/time stamp complete the info select SAVE NOTEBOOK.) Tab 3: Instructions. Add own instructions. This tab is used by the researcher to log information related to audits of data quality, QA/QC field or laboratory audits or other project inspections by peer review or management. Tab 9: My Websites. This tab permits the researcher to save website information related to his/her research project(s) for future reference. Tab 10: Locations. This tab provides additional more precise information on exact location of where the research is conducted (primarily intended for field research. While each notebook page has the option to insert the latitude and longitude of the field research this database provides more useful information for records management. Tab 11: Contacts. This tab provides a database to enter all research staff contact information related to research projects contained in the EFLN. Tab 12: Emails. This tab provides an email function within the app for researchers to complete and send from within the notebook. Tab13: Users.
