Editors' Review
Efficient Lady's Organizer Free is a free program that manages your contacts, appointments, schedules, and other important parts of your personal life like birthdays and holidays. It includes a Calendar, Notes, Diary, and other features common to personal organizers, as well as some less common ones like password protection and a password generator. It has the same basic interface as virtually identical editions, with the exception of a pink-hued interface and the liberal application of hearts and bubbles to the program's skin. While it's not for everyone, plenty of ladies (and gentlemen) will find it a refreshing and fun change from the drab blues, grays, and what-the-heck-do-you-call-that-colors that dominate software today.
As an efficient personal organizer, this tool is aptly named. It can import and export data, including not only contacts, addresses, events, and holidays but also e-mail accounts, notes, passwords and even software registration codes. This tool is based around Events and Tasks, which are similar in configuration but give users a measure of customization. We quickly added our contacts and other personal data and clicked New Event to begin our schedule. The event wizard is a tabbed dialog that offers everything from start and end times to notes and sounds; it even has its own file menu and toolbar. We could set audible reminders to play at various intervals before an event, which could be a potential bacon-saver if multitasking makes you late for meetings now and then. We could also prioritize entries by importance and urgency, set recurring reminders, and save notes. Some menu entries are labeled Pro and are inactive in the freeware version, but they're mostly enhancements to shared features. Efficient Lady's Organizer Free never felt like a bare-bones version of a for-pay program, and we had no complaints about the freeware's features; those who need more can get it easily by upgrading.
And the skin? Yes, it's a layer of frou-frou on an otherwise competent, attractive but Plain Jane app, but what's wrong with that? This is one organizer that can work as well as work it!
