"Get it!"
Version: EditPlus 2.30
Pros
This is the one program I use more than anything else. It's a must have for coding, and even for just regular text editing it's well worth the measly $30. You'll get more than your money's worth.
The syntax highlighting is about the best out there. A few more options in it would be nice, but overall very very good.
Reliable - It just works. Even when working with large numbers of files or large files when you do some kind of complex substitution (e.g. using regular expressions) you always get the results you want. This has been a problem in some other editors I've found.
Cons
It could use stronger regular expressions.
While a 255MB file size limit is pretty big, sometimes this is still a bit small and I wish I could open larger files. In those cases I usually end up doing whatever I need in custom software that I have to build myself.
Aesthetically there are other editors that look better, but this is a minor point.
The cons are very minor, though I would really like to see stronger regular expression support in it.

"Nearly Flawless!"
Version: EditPlus 2.30
Pros
Simple, efficient, reliable, and consistent ... [almost] everything you need and almost nothing that you don't. Installs seemlessly, loads fast, runs fast, uses little memory, and never crashes.
The intelligent (and configurable by file type) syntax highlighting and code indenting aides efficiency. The column select feature is essential for serious dev work. Also sports Explorer integration, integrated FTP, powerful search, and cross-platform text file support.
EditPlus works for you, but does not get in the way by trying to second-guess you like so many other Windows-based apps do now ... it does what you tell it and no more.
Each and every release has proved stable, and the product is well-maintained with frequent ***free*** updates. Buy the $30 license one-time, and your good to go. Don't be cheap, buy the license!!!
I've been using EditPlus professionally (software & web development) since 2000 and recommend it without reservation to all my co-workers. I have been itching to switch from Windows XP to Mac OS X, but this is one of only two Windows-based apps I can't bear to part with ... I hope it runs well in Parallel's desktop, or better yet they release a Mac version.
Cons
A few bugs in the regex search, which is a little quirky. No Unix-like built-in HEX view/edit capability for binary files. No integrated file differencing tools.
