    "Sneaky Installer"

    May 28, 2013  |   By EditPad_Bad

    Version: EditPad Lite 7.2.3

    Pros

Seems ok, but the underhanded installs are hidden and nasty

    Cons

Installed link hijacker and installed browser add-on. Installed pretend backup service, UNBRANDED and made to look like windows component. Other programs also installed, 4 in total.

    Summary

AVOID EditPad, they are providing it free as bait to covertly invade. USE WITH CAUTION - there are no options would you like to install ...

The editor comment on the money.

"Comes with unwanted browser helper object."

    March 25, 2013  |   By Lia2

    Version: EditPad Lite 7.2.3

    Pros

The product is deserving of a good review but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because it comes bundled with an objectionable extra program that truly alters the browsing experience for the worse - much worse...

    Cons

Even after selecting custom installation (to make sure nothing extra came with the software) GetSavin 5.0 by AdPeak was installed in the background.

    Summary

A very well designed program is totally marred by being bundled with a hidden download of tracking software.

"I love it, but it does not support some characters"

    January 3, 2013  |   By XandroHernandez

    Version: EditPad Lite 7.2.2

    Pros

I love it. It has a nice appearance and works fast. The sort feature and some other features are very good, but (please see below)

    Cons

It does not support some characters. Unrecognized characters are replaced by question marks. Therefore it is mainly for plain text files. I have it as the substitute for the Windows Notepad. I have it launch instead of Notepad for txt files. For other features not available in it or in Word I use CesarUSA Text Editor BS2, which is great for RTF, TXT, HTML, and they told me they are going to support Doc and DOCX files by means of converting the files to the RTF format and vice versa.

"Still the best Notepad alternative out there."

    December 7, 2012  |   By smcohen

    Version: EditPad Lite 7.2.1

    Pros

Easy to use, flexible, very intuitive.

    Cons

    There's no Mac version.

    Summary

This just blows Notepad out of the water. Why anyone who knows about EditPad would use Notepad I cannot imagine.

    "Great multi-file editor"

    November 29, 2012  |   By skaizun

    Version: EditPad Lite 7.2.1

    Pros

Allowed me to edit multiple files at once!

    Cons

I haven't used it to its full capabilities, so none so far!

    Summary

I needed a text editor that would allow me to edit multiple files without having to open, edit, save, close, open next, edit, etc. FWIW, I use a version of 'vi' for DOS (yes, I know . . . deal with it!), and typically do something like 'vi *.htm', but, in many cases, that isn't possible, because my version of 'vi' has a maximum line length limitation, of which virtually all my html files have.

EditPad Lite allowed me to open every file I wanted by using typical Windows-style keystrokes, such as ctrl-A (i.e., select all files) or ctrl-left-mouse (i.e., select individual files) or ctrl-shift-mouse (i.e., select all within a range), etc. In my case, I opened 13 htm files at one time. Each was opened in a separate tab. It didn't complain about line lengths or the number of files. I made my edits and saved the files (individually or all!).

It was unbelieveably easy and intuitive. I was editing within seconds of the install, which was a little peculiar in its setup (e.g., it had the EULA (end-user license agreement) at the end of the setup options, rather than at the beginning!), and its Notepad-like structure was very easy to use. I didn't even have to bother with the options, which I normally do with most software!

It took me longer to write this review than it did to edit all 13 files, which, had I done with Notepad or 'vi', would have taken me far more time!

I am very pleased with EditPad Lite!
