"Yup, 2.1 is really a downgrade!"

    September 13, 2012   |   By bquebs

    Version: Easy Grade Pro 4.1

    Pros

Everything that isn't a downgrade works great! In fact aside from the stupidity of removing features, I love EGP.

    Cons

-Upgrade is pointless. Just costs more as far as I can tell.
    -Upgrade removes most internet features

    Summary

Yup, recently upgraded to 4.1 but didn't notice any differences. I was checking online to see what they are but I couldn't find any information until I checked here. The previous poster is right. What once used to be a "internet/email" tab now just says "internet/edline." It has dramatically less options once you select it. In fact, all it has now is two options to post to edline.com which requires a account from the school district. My district doesn't have an account and I can't sign up for a solo account so I'm duck outta luck! I went and checked someone else's old version (4.0)and it has the same two options for edline.com plus about ten other online options including email options and options to post information to a personal website. As far as I can tell the upgrade is $20 dollars spent to remove these features. And that's just simply unethical.

    "Upgrade is really a downgrade..."

    September 13, 2012   |   By Chezmanq

    Version: Easy Grade Pro 4.1

    Pros

-Works fine. Just like the old version...

    Cons

-The only thing the upgrade contains is one feature removed.
    -Customer support is practically non-existent.

    Summary

So I've scoured version 4.1 of Easy Grade Pro and the only difference that I can find from 4.0 is that they actively removed the option to email student reports to parents. Good thing I paid good money to upgrade! Especially considering I teach a small private school that will NEVER have access to edline which EGP seems intent on shoving down teachers throats. I just spent all that money to LOSE one of the best features. And good luck contacting customer support. The phone line costs a ton of money and email support is nowhere to be found. Nice...

    "It's great!"

    July 22, 2011   |   By DaveSreb

    Version: Easy Grade Pro 4.1

    Pros

    - Very easy to use, once you get it set up
    - Reports can be sent to parents via e-mail; many options on reports
    - Flexible grading: supports different assignment categories, weighting of categories, weighting of assignments, dropping assignments.

    Cons

    . In V4.0, you can't send e-mail using GMail's smtp server.
. Only two e-mail addresses per student (parents of some students in my school request 3 addresses)
. It is very flexible, but there are also lots of set-up options.

    Summary

My preference is to have grade book software installed on my system rather than accessible through the web. Based on that, EasyGrade Pro is far and away better than anything I've found.

The things I do most: adding assignments, entering grades, and emailing reports to parents are a breeze; well designed and easy to use.

Parents in my school appreciate frequent feedback, and EasyGrade Pro makes it easy to give it. In addition to grades and missing work notices, you can include comments on individual assignments for individual students.

You can also export your grades to a spreadsheet. You can choose exactly the data you need. I use this for creating a spreadsheet to use for mail-merge report cards. It reduces the chance for mistakes in grades.

Some people might find that there are too many set-up options. This can be good for people like me who want things just so, but for others, there may be too many options. The good thing is that once you have everything set up, you can copy options to new grade books when you start a new term or a new year.

I don't know what I'd do without it.
