Version: Easeus Disk Copy 2.3
"Simple and quick. Cloned HD boots. No problems so far."
Pros: I wanted to move from a 20G HD to larger. After burning the ISO, the process went very fast. The cloned HD boots and seems complete, except for omitting the beginning where I can access BIOS and SetUp.
So far, I like it a lot.Cons: Only one thing bothers me. It took the 17G I had, made one 17g partition, left the rest of the larger HD blank.
Summary: I was warned there might be compatibility issues, but none showed up. I'm using the cloned HD now, testing it. I think it's a winner. It might be troublesome to a beginner, having to work with first a ZIP file and then an ISO, but after that everything went well and the program was very fast. The cloned copy, which I am using now, starts at the password, but for a backup it's fine. I need to try recovering from the cloned copy. If that works, I'd give it 5 stars.
Updated on Nov 8, 2009Just used Disk Copy 2.3 to clone one WD 500GB SATA HD to a formatted twin on same computer, an HP Pavilion AMD 64 32bit with XP SP3 Media Center ed. all updates, Version 2002, 2GB RAM. I was gratified by the results. It was exactly what I wanted, and the machine was not otherwise used during the procedure.
Stats: Elapsed time 04:14:22, Copy Size 465.75 GB, Data Transfer Rate 1.83GB/min, no reported read or write errors.
The copy will boot. I searched but found no differences. Only flaw was not reminding me to remove installation CD before shutdown. to switch HDs.
Quote from instructions: "If your old hard drive is bootable, please pay absolulte attention to that only one of the two hard disks can be saved before restarting the operating system." Quaint but true. It means " switch HDs."
I recommend this for anyone wanting a precise archive copy and has the time. It will overwrite previous copies so HD can be reused.
