"This program takes the worry out of making frequent backups of work in progress."
Version: EDL AutoSave 2.5
Pros
I have been a collector of utilities ever since the days of the Commodore 64. I've tried hundreds of them and sadly most don't live up to the hype. Consequently it's refreshing when one comes along that A) does what it says it's going to do, and B) is genuinely useful. I'm happy to say that EDL AutoSave is one of those utilities. I do a considerable amount of work in Microsoft Word and Excel. Microsoft Word (2000 or greater) or Excel (2002 or greater) can automatically recover unsaved changes to documents if the program stops responding or there is a power failure. When AutoRecover is turned on, the changes you make are saved at set intervals in a separate, temporary recovery file. The recovery file contains your changes up until the last time AutoRecover saved the document. I'm not a big fan of temporary recovery files. When I'm working along on a document I frequently loose track of time and don't save at regular intervals. This unfortunate habit has bit me in the butt more than once because I have experienced occasions where, due to an unusual type of system failure, the AutoRecover feature didn't work. At that point I'm stuck with hours of re-typing the work that I lost. That is where EDL AutoSave comes in. It automatically saves the document you're working on at intervals of your choosing. It can work with any program you choose or with any program not included on a default "ignore" list. It can also overwrite automatically or prompt to save under a different filename. The interface is neat and simple and the help file is extremely well written with clear and concise directions on how to set up and modify the program to your personal preferences. It is now firmly entrenched on my computer as a daily favorite. And the biggest plus of all is that it is worth significantly more than the low asking price. Don't wait another minute. Get this program and put an end to lost work.

"It is a GangsterWare - Will steal info & Bandwidth"
Version: EDL AutoSave 2.5
Cons
I was wondering as how a program which was only going to save the
work-file every few minutes is so big - over 5 MB.
The mystery was solved on installation. It is not a trialware, which
can be activated by buying the registeration code for $4, but a
GangsterWare (some users call them: SpyWare)
You can not delete it in Windows Mode or remove Registery
Enteries. If you are going to try it, then should have a back-up
copy of Registery and some uninstall software, which atleast
can create a list of files installed by this software, so that you
can manually delete them in DOS Mode
SUPER JUNK
