best features are not available unless the full version is purchased. I have been burned many times with style of marketing and unless I can try each feature before purchase, I rarely try it. I use the user ratings and not the editors as a starting point. Lots of needless popups to reaffirm your original choice.

Duplicates are a way of life in today's world; you download a song, your brother downloads the same song, your wife copies the same images you uploaded yesterday, somebody decides to copy images for editing and forgets to delete them and so on.
I have a ton of songs and pics and plenty of duplicates among them. Everytime I decide to sort them out, it somehow gets mysteriously postponed to a later date.
I knew I needed a tool and so I downloaded a few from CNET and tried them out. I am glad I did, I got rid of more than 1 gb of duplicate files! Out of all the tools I tried, the fastest, most accurate, flexible and easy to use was this program - Duplicate File Finder.
It is extremely intuitive and easy to use; I found it a pleasure to work with. It is really fast; it took 5 secs to find out duplicates in my 13 GB image folder! The duplicates are sorted in groups and there is a nice preview feature to check if the files are actually duplicates. There are a variety of ways your can mark the files to be deleted but the free edition has just a couple of options which is more than enough for the average user. After marking the files, you can either delete them or move them to a predefined folder.
For searching, you can do a Byte by Byte search, same file name, same date time, same extension, music duplicates, and non duplicate music files. Again, Filters, Exclusions and Protect Files options for searching are not present in the free edition.
All you need to do is select the folder to search, select the search type and search.
Kudos to the developer for such an excellent program. All the other tools had something or the other missing, or were slow to use. Duplicate File Finder is the only program which is complete and fast and is great to use. -

"My Hardisk Is Clean & Tidy Again"

I downloaded the free edition which was good enough to clean up my entire hardisk from duplicate files. Now my hardisk is clean and tidy again. Free edition has all the features including simple marking option which is huge time saver to mark files.

Will ONLY FIND your duplicate files.

You can't actually DELETE any of the duplicated files it finds without $paying$ for it first.
Summary
The FREE version simply provides you with a list of duplicate files and nothing more, ONLY a list. If you'd acually like to do something with that list, like ACTUALLY DELETE ANY OF THOSE DUPLICATE FILES you have to $PAY$ FOR THE FULL VERSION FIRST.
The entire proccess to download, install, scan, be dissapointed, and then uninstal took less than an hour. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. -

I just used it on my messy drop box folder. It found all of the duplicates (thousands) and removed them all for free.

NEVER WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO FIND ANY DUPLICATES AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT I WAS CLEANING UP MY INSTALLED PROGRAMS, RE-SETTING MY HOMEPAGE ETC.

First program of this type I have ever used. Loaded it up and used it. That simple. Very easy to understand and does what it is supposed to do.
Cons
No real "Con".
Summary
As with any new program pay attention to what you are doing or you could erase files you did not want to loose. Not the programs fault, you need to control what you want to erase.

I have downloaded the free version from cnet and it works perfectly on my system... It asked me for upgrade, but that's not stopping it to work. I don't know why people are lying that the free version does nothing. They must be competitors who don't like competition. Don't go with the reviews just download and judge yourself.
