    "worst customer service EVER"

    September 15, 2014  |   By ampldr01

    Version: Dropbox 2.10.29

    Pros

When it works, provides a platform for our virtual team to store and access files.

    Cons

When it doesn't work, customer service is unavailable, unresponsive, provides canned cut and paste answers, and always cites user error.

    Summary

When we initially began using Dropbox, it appeared to be the perfect solution for our virtual team as we were able to store and access documents real time. Recently, however, files have begun disappearing and customer service does not answer the phone, responds to emails slowly, and always provides links to the self help page in their response. They never take the next step and offer to help investigate the issue or research what alternative solutions might be available. If I failed to answer the phone, took 2 days to respond to emails, and pointed the finger at my customers when they had issues, my business would be OUT OF BUSINESS. Dropbox has lost mine and I will not recommend them to anyone.

    "Works flawlessly."

    September 2, 2014  |   By copyref

    Version: Dropbox 2.10.29

    Pros

    1. Works flawlessly across multiple platforms.
    2. Has native linux client.
    3. Can see which files and folders are being synced in real time

    Cons

    1. Compared to the competition very little initial storage for free.

    Summary

I have tried Copy, Box, DropBox on Linux, and so far DropBox is the winner. Copy didn't sync properly and Box doesn't have a linux client (which is a pity since my employer gives us 250gb free on Box). Sure the amount of free storage on DropBox is much smaller than the others, but at least it works.

If you would like to get extra 500mb free when you sign up for dropbox (so you start with 2.5gb instead of 2gb), please use the following link. Both of us will get 500mb extra storage.

    Thank you.

"Awesome backup, synchronization, sharing tool and more."

    July 12, 2014  |   By mp-net

    Version: Dropbox 2.8.4

    Pros

After simple installation this program requires no maintenance.
Everything inside Dropbox folder is automatically backed up.
Dropbox folder is automatically synchronized between all your computers.
Access to all your files from Dropbox folder on cell phones and tablets (Android, iOS, BlackBerry).
All your deleted and changed files are available for 30 days in the cloud, and can be easily recovered.

    Cons

Only 2GB of cloud space for free, but can be increased to 16GB through referrals and other bonus programs if you don't want to update to paid version. (>see< referral link below)

    Summary

When you create Dropbox account from the referral link below:
    https://db .tt/eHbTxPK2 [remove space]
you will receive extra 500MB (2.5GB instead of 2GB) at the beginning.

Great program. I can't imagine my work without it any more. I have all my most important documents on my home computer in sub-folders of Dropbox. They automatically update on my Netbook and my computer at work when I open them. When I don't have any of my computers around me then I open my files on my cell phone.

Recently I also started using automatic upload of pictures from my cell phone to Dropbox. Now I don't have to worry about connecting phone with computer through Bluetooth or USB cable any more.

    "Syncing time could be improved"

    May 13, 2014  |   By Colinffo

    Version: Dropbox 2.6.33

    Pros

Wonderfully easy way to share files (even large ones) between people and at long distances. iPhone app to access files from my phone.

    Cons

    Syncing time could be improved
'Drag and drop' removes files from one folder and adds to another, better if it only duplicates the folders

    Summary

Send photos and avoid your ISPs file size limit: reason enough to install DropBox. Great for collaboration, too. I keep a list of books I own in DropBox so when I am in a bookstore I can grab my phone, see my list and avoid buying a book I already own!

    "Works very well for me"

    April 5, 2014  |   By 4Denise

    Version: Dropbox 2.6.27

    Pros

Allows me to sync my school files between my computers with almost no work.

    Cons

    None that I have detected.

    Summary

I am in school online. I usually work on my desktop computer, but I also have a laptop that I use. Instead of transferring the files by usb drive, I simply work within the dropbox folder. If I have a thunderstorm, for example, and need to unplug my computer equipment, the work will be waiting for me on my laptop. I can continue as before. Perfect!

"No Windows Phone app, beware of 1 year upgrades."

    April 3, 2014  |   By JPA32

    Version: Dropbox 2.6.27

    Pros

I have used Dropbox for several year. Works great and it kept over 100gb of files sync'd up across ipads, android phones and PCs.

    Cons

No Windows Phone app. (I ended up using Microsoft SkyDrive instead, which offers more supported platforms.)

When downgrading my DropBox account (didn't need all that storage anymore)I learned that they don't credit you for any unused months. (I can see bumping the charges to the monthly rate for months used.) This has turned my from a big fan to a very annoyed ex-customer.

    Summary

Does what is it supposed to o on supported platforms. Be careful before signing up for annual service.

    "Syncing inconsistent, slow, delayed, unreliable"

    March 22, 2014  |   By CmoniqueNET

    Version: Dropbox 2.6.25

    Pros

Does everything the other reviewers have praised, but... see the cons

    Cons

If Dropbox won't sick. It is essentially useless especially for shared files/folders and working remotely from different locations. I have work to do and am stuck.

No support that helps me. My impression is support is available for basic problems but nonexistent and unresponsive to immediate requests for help that are beyond the user's ability to troubleshoot. Isn't that when it is most important to have help?

    Summary

No syncing or delayed, unreliable and inconsistent syncing and to make it worse, customer support is delayed and on the company's schedule as opposed to when the customer needs it.
