Summary
I prefer to check reviews before trying something out, and Dropbox only has great reviews.
Have you have had that problem where you were given a company laptop to use, but you?re your main files were on your computer at home? Sure you could thumb-drive them over or email them to yourself, but then what if you wanted to be able to access them without actually putting them onto the other computer? Or better yet, what if you updated the files on your home computer? I?d have to then email it to myself and replace the one on the company laptop, or the opposite, all over again. Or say you have a Smartphone and want to bring up a picture that?s on your computer. But with Dropbox, you can now access your files via the web to any computer or phone, even somebody else?s if necessary, regardless of whether or not they have Dropbox installed.
It's free software (adware-free), free 2 Gigs of space, secure, highly accessible, and easy to use. You can also use it on most smartphones.
Dropbox also gives the option of linking your files for easy access to others, for example in emails, instant message conversations, blogs, etc.!

"Now with selective sync, this is by far the best"
Version: Dropbox 0.7.110
Pros
Very easy to setup and use
Fast syncing
I have never had a problem with corrupted files or conflicts
Starts up quickly and doesn't consume a big amount of system resources
Very responsive support team
Ongoing improvements to the programCons
Can't sync outside of DropBox folder, however; you can use symbolic links to accomplish this (see Link Shell Extension).
Summary
I wish there was better competition in this product category from a price standpoint, however; the other programs I've tried (e.g. Syncplicity, SugarSync, SpiderOak) all caused problems with my files and/or consumed too many system resources. I tried working with customer support on these issues, and while they were responsive, they weren't able to resolve these issues. Perhaps these other programs will improve over time, but since trying DropBox, I haven't looked back.

"Dropbox has saved my data and made my life easier"
Version: Dropbox 0.7.110
Pros
Saves and backs up data across multiple computers and devices. I hardly use USB drives anymore.
Cons
None that I can think of. You get 2GB of free space, and I'm able to save and coordinate critical work documents. Despite the version number, it has never crashed or lost my data. I just hope they never charge for the free service.
Summary
This software really stands out, and I can't imagine doing without it now. I set my applications to save directly to the Dropbox folder at automatic intervals, so if my computer were stolen or destroyed in accident, I could pick up right where I left off from another computer immediately. The software has a very light footprint, and I can even access the files on my Blackberry. I've crashed computers, but have never lost my most important word documents with Dropbox. The most useful feature is the synchronization across multiple computers, and I never have to worry if I'm using the latest version of my documents. I should note that I use it primarily for word documents, if I were going to store music or other larger files, I would obviously have to purchase more storage space. You should check it out.

"Intuitive, stable, encrypted, desktop client - A+"
Version: Dropbox 0.7.110
Pros
DropBox gives users 2GB of secure, online storage, FREE. You can access your online DropBox via your web browser in a VERY intuitive interface, or via the tiny desktop application. It is a breeze to use, works as intended, is stable.
Cons
No CONS, only PROS! The web interface is very sexy, intuitive, no learning curve. The desktop application can be double clicked, where you "drop" or modify your files. Once saved, they SYNC to DropBox. This is how it should be! Easy. Polished.
Summary
I have looked at other online storage solutions. Dropbox seems to be one of if not THE best coded, the most stable, and bugfree. Whoever they have programming their applications and working on their website... those guys/gals know what they are doing. I work on documents at work, and at home, but I keep them on my DropBox. This way any changes I make at home, the files sync. When I get to work, it's as though I am working on the same document, and vice versa when I get home from work. No more having to transfer files with a USB Thumb Drive, or email myself back and forth. The pricing model is very fair.
Dropbox Pricing model, from their website:
Basic - Free - 2GB
Other Account Types
Pro 50 - $9.99 / month or $99.00 / year - Upgrade to Pro 50
Pro 100 - $19.99 / month or $199.00 / year - Upgrade to Pro 100
10 bucks a month = 33 cents a day
The other feature my friends and I have used is "sharing".
You can "share" one of your DropBox folders, and invite specific people for access, via email.
It's very convenient. Exactly what I needed. When you need to share files in a pinch, or access something at work, and at home, and from somewhere else, say from a web page on any computer... you can do it.
I almost forgot, they have an iPhone application, I can access my DropBox, on my phone! Anywhere, anytime.
I truly believe DropBox's will become the number 1 online storage and backup provider if they keep it up.
I am so confident in their service and product, I think I'm going to check their jobs page, and also check if I can buy some of their stock. They are a winner, so is their web page, as is their application.
Online Storage and Backup at its finest. It's perfect!
Thank you DropBox! -
