Version: DriverMax 4.7
"Easy to use. Best driver program - including my PCs mfg"
Pros: I've a Dell PC. I've used Dell's driver program & another that's not free. The right path to take isn't as clear as what is presented by DM. I'll not be surprised if I get a bad driver with DM. But, I'm sure my success rate will be much, much higher.
Cons: Can only select one driver at a time. This is really more of a wish list being reported as a con. The program is not as intuitive as I think it could be - you must scan the help. Oh well...
Summary: Working with Dell's driver update service is much more difficult as far as determining if a given driver is for the hardware actually on your system. DriverMax, on the other hand, identifies the hardware and related drivers on your system and then recommends specific driver updates based on the information collected. Ditto for DriverAgent - plus it's not free.
Now, can one still run into problems? Definitely! But, isn't that the nature of driver updates, where driver manufacturing is not always subject to the quality control that we expect..
I'm no expert on this driver stuff. I just know correct updates came make a huge difference between hardware working appropriately or not; and having peak system performance or not. In that regard, I'm impressed by the ease with which DriverMax has enabled me to quickly and successfully install drivers - bringing my system completely up-to-date.
And it is free...! What a deal!
