"Failed to clone my drive"
Version: DriveImage XML 2.30
Pros
Looks like it would work
Cons
VERY SLOW
Cancel button gets stuck and had to kill the process.
Bailed after 5% (2 hours) at first sector errorSummary

"Suddenly Stopped Working"
Version: DriveImage XML 2.30
Pros
Used to work just great
Cons
It has suddenly stopped working. I get a fatal error every night now. The latest message after cleaning up, defragging, and checking for errors on the backup drive, is
Buffered/text stream: Could not write the entire
buffer to the underlying stream.
The drive being backed up and the drive receiving the backup are both NTFS.
I haven't a clue as to why is stopped working after over a year of success with the programSummary
I will have to find an alternative to DriveImage XML as I am now without a means of backing up my main hard drive.

"Undeclared requirement"
Version: DriveImage XML 2.30
Pros
----------
Cons
To restore files from backup files, the restoring part of the software must be burnt into CD disk incorporating some autoboot such as BartPE or UBCD. Alternatively, restoring by booting from another hard disk with driveimage XML installed; or get a self-booting CD that contains the program such as 500 MB+ Hiren Boot CD.
Summary
Easy installing. No luck with this program if you use Microsoft Office 2003 pre service pack 1. Even if you install the SP 1, you have to change the registry yourself ! While backing up I also came across another error. Before installing or using this program I did not come across anywhere which stated that for this program to work the computer must contain at least one NTFS partition though that NTFS partition needs not reside in the same hard disk with the backup files nor destination partition.

"Easy Backup but hassle to restore files"
Version: DriveImage XML 2.30
Pros
Quick and easy to backup files.
Cons
When I tried to restore files, system wouldn't work and part of the files showed an error. Finally was able to use a Microsoft search program to find files and download each file individually. A real hassle. Spent two days just downloading info for three months on one program. Windows 7 has a incompatibility problem, so had to go back to Windows XP for downloading the info. The latestest files that would have downloaded through August of last year were incomplete due to an error, so having to try to recreat the files form bank statements, etc. My original computer was lost in a fire and all I had was a backup disk that I used Digital XML to backup on. I'm not a computer wiz, so had real problems even trying to follow instructions given for making partitions, etc. Tried, but then it said drive was not sufficient in size even though I made it larger than the backup data.
Summary
Will try to find a better program for backup so info can be restored easier.
