The freeware has a very compact installer and costs nothing yet it produces interesting visuals. Drempels Screensaver takes images (BMP and JPG supported) from any folder and distorts them in various fancy ways. We found it really fascinating watching transformation on the screen. You can set a few parameters to customize the show (speed, resolution, and so on). The program can work as both a screensaver and animated wallpaper. In the latter case, it didn ??t take many system resources in our tests (but only with small images, when we tried usual JPEG photos, the image started twitching). If you want a beautiful screensaver for free, try Drempels Screensaver.

Developer's Description

Replace your old still-image wallpaper and screensaver with beautiful animated visuals.

Drempels makes colorful, swirling, hallucinogenic patterns that resemble a hurricane or tornado. It normally runs in your Windows background or desktop, replacing your old still-image wallpaper with beautiful animated visuals. Meanwhile, you can use your computer just like you normally would. It uses very little CPU overhead--so little that it even runs smoothly on a 233MHz system.

Drempels can also be used as a screensaver; in this mode, it goes full-screen (like a normal screensaver) instead of rendering to the desktop/background. It was created by the author of the Geiss screensaver and Winamp plug-in.
