"better alternative"

I tried this for 2 weeks and just could not get over how NON-intuitive and clunky its features were. I really wanted to like Dragthing, but in the end I turned Drop Drawers back on and still find it to be the most useful enhancement for a Mac. DropDrawers is easily customizable and I find far more useful than anything in this type of utility.

"Great Product and Support"

I found this product a few years ago and fell in love with it. I installed it on all our Mac in our Advertisement Agency here in Montreal, Canada. Everyone loved it. Purchased a site license and like someone said in an earlier post " I can't live without it" I have only had one earlier problem that was fixed in an upgrade but since then and including this beta.. not one problem on any of our machines. I would highly recommend DragThing to everyone who want the ease of use and functionality of such a great program. -

"Great Mac addition"
Version: DragThing 5.6.4

DragThing has significantly accelerated my use of my PowerBook G4 1.67 15" by its ability to offer easy and fast access to numerous application categories, many in each, without occupying heaps of display space. I love it and now probably would be unable to do without it. It's never given any significant problems and the couple of small glitches during the last few years have been more than satisfactorily handled by the wuality support by email. I love this program. -
"Useful, fun and stable"
Version: DragThing 5.6.4

I've been using DragThing for about 6 months. I have hidden, useful docks all over, all of my favorite apps and documents (and docks themselves) have been given hot keys, and I have little need of the apple dock. No other app has increased my day to day efficiency this well.
You could probably put together many of DragThing's functions with other apps, maybe even some freeware, but the grace, style and stability of DragThing seems worth the cost to me.
It did take me a bit of playing around to figure the various options out, but then I'm an old guy, and far from a computer genius. -

This is the first application I install when I set up a new mac. Couldn't life without it. This is the app that got me into the habit of paying for shareware. -
"DragThing is Great"

DragThing is a much more sophisticated app launcher than Butler and far more elegant. Butler is a just a bunch of submenus that make the user constantly remember where items are located. Both let you assign hot keys so in that regard they're equal. But rs48532 sounds more like a 12 year old who needs attention, even if it's negative, than someone who knows how to write an intelligent review. At best it sounds like it is a jilted ex-lover or spouse of one of the other developers.
DT works wonderfully on many levels. If you don't like clutter then it's out of the way completely: no tabs, no convoluted pull-down menus that Butler forces you into, no preconceived hierarchy like the other app launchers have. It's just a very nice, intuitive, easy-to-use interface enhancement that makes using my Mac a great experience. The moronic bashing by rs48532 is worthless and doesn't do justice to DT's clean, up-to-date, and elegant interface.
And actually I LIKE the tabs dropping down or coming in from the side! It's very cool looking. You can control the speed, how they appear, how they retract, the look of each cell, how they're painted, their translucence, size, icon, text style, IF you want! NONE of the other app launchers give you that kind of control. Its set-up is easy, fun, infinitely configurable, adaptable, and integrates seamlessly with many other OS enhancements.
Don't be swayed by some adolescent cry-baby who wants to denigrate a fun and useful GUI enhancement because it doesn't spoon feed its preconceived and backward notions about how certain apps should behave. DragThing works greats, its lots of fun to use (you should see people's eye bug out when a gorgeous drop-down menu appears out of nowhere then instantly retracts when I click on a button!), but most of all its functionality is head and shoulders about the others. That's why I paid for it. That's why I use it everyday. -
"DragThing works for me the way I want"

I'm not sure when this forum became a semi-personal flaming match between differing opinions. I started to read some of the latest reviews and gave up learning about any real improvements or shortcomings pretty quickly. I just glad to get a Tiger version before I receive my Amazon shipment of Tiger.
I guess that because I read the instructions and configured my own desktops (dual monitors) so that I could quickly get to 'clusters' (tabs) of related softwares this software is fine for me.
I run multiple (4) different docks with different features and functions. The program has never crashed. It follows the normal mac conventions. It has advanced features for the curious and is well thought out. I get to the programs and related folders that I need for a type of project fairly easily by putting them in a tab.
There are probably several very good launchers available. I chose this one. I like this one. You can like the one you like without questioning my judgement or abilities. If I post a problem I will expect that my criticism will also be respected as a point of view. I won't be defending myself or my opinions in this venue.Thank You. -

I ran into a slight problem last night and I thought it was a 5.6 bug. I emailed James, got a prompt reply, and it turned out the problem was due to another application.
I've used DragThing for years, before OS X and obviously after. It clearly has a place in my computer.
