"OMG! Loved Dr. Web's Cure-It!"
Version: Dr.Web CureIt 6.0
Pros
Very thorough. Caught several viruses missed by both Kaspersky and MalwareBytes. I search out any good stand-alone anti-malware software since it doesn't cause conflicts, doesn't slow your system, and makes a great back-up.
Cons
None really. The full scan takes awhile, but it's very thorough so I don't get my knickers in a kink, especially since it's free!
Summary
I now run Kaspersky, then Malwarebytes, then Dr. Web's Cure-It and feel very protected. For those that whine about being directed to their website, having to give their name and email address, it's a small price for software that does a thorough and excellent job. For those of you who get blue-screened or their computer gets worse--Gee, maybe they have a serious infection they should have dealt with long back or have a hardware issue. For those who can't figure out how to download it, read at least a bit of the website. It's not difficult at all.

"Re:My Review"

Cons
Gave me a blue screen of death
Summary
Use anything else but this. Thought all was going well until my computer rebooted and blue screened.

"This download doesn't work, must go to their site."
Version: Dr.Web CureIt 6.0
Pros
After jumping through hoops, I suppose you may finally get to try it.
Cons
This download doesn't work, but redirects you to a website.
Summary
When opening this downloaded program, it merely tells you it's for private use only and opens a browser window to their website. You must then enter your email and full name to get an additional link to a free download. This is a Russian site, hence their support forum is in Russian. Never heard of them, and I didn't trust this strange setup, so I aborted the process.

"No frills perfection"
Version: Dr.Web CureIt 6.0
Pros
Peace of mind in the thoroughness of the scanning
Extremely easy to use
The interface and actions displayed are not cloaked in IT jargon
It's free and it worksCons
You need to be patient as complete scan takes many hours
Summary
For a free product this is an exceptionally thorough, easy to use and re-assuring piece of software. It has rooted out an infection that AVG blantantly missed. Whilst it's shocking that popularly acclaimed AV software can fail to detect very widely dispersed trojans I am in awe that something as unpretentious and seemingly 'cheap' looking as CureIt! can detect and eradicate without me needing university level skills at IT. Some may moan that their PC is locked up during scans and that the process takes too long but they should consider the flip side of this -is what they are used to from an anti-virus product simply taking short cuts and would they rather have a clean machine or one that they are told is clear of nasties but is secretly grabbing their passwords and bandwiith. Well done to the team who made this product.

"Combofix has been dethroned!"
Version: Dr.Web CureIt 6.0
Pros
- Detected and removed a stubborn rootkit that combofix and tdsskiller could not.
- Finished in less than 5 minutes with express scan
- Would have saved hours of work if I had used this firstCons
The "Complete scan" takes a long time, but I didn't need it.
Summary
Dr. Web CureIt! was the ONLY tool, after hours of troubleshooting, that successfully cleaned my machine of a rootkit. The entire MajorGeeks process, SUPERAntiSpyware, rootrepeal, tdsskiller, and combofix all failed to clean this infection. Only TDSSKiller and Combofix were able to detect it, but even after they "cleaned" it, the infection would return after reboot. Dr. Web CureIt! automatically started its "express scan", found, and removed the malware in less than 5 minutes. I did find that the complete scan took QUITE some time, but I was able to run this in the background after the express scan mode killed the active infection. I've been doing this for years and have never come across a utility as powerful and easy to use as this.

"Great program to squash rootkits"
Version: Dr.Web CureIt 6.0
Pros
Other programs (such as GMER and aswMBR) detected malware in the boot sector, but wouldn't successfully remove the virus; this program crushed the problem AND it works in the Safe Mode (important when you can't run in the normal windows mode).
Cons
A complete scan will take a while (figure at least 2 to 4 hours); and
DrWeb has this knack for stopping during a scan and waiting for you to decide what to do about the discovered virus.Summary
To make a long story shorter, TDL4 @ MBR according to GMER.
Call to action was due to continual (& unrequested by me) rebooting of the system upon starting in the normal mode. I could boot into safe mode with networking but ...
TDSSkiller wouldn't initialize;
Sophos antirootkit & Trend Micro Rootkit buster won't work in Safe Mode;
GMER detected but wouldn't clean;
Malwarebytes' anti-malware, MS Forefront, and SUPERantispyware all worked until they thought things were clean but wouldn't solve the constant normal reboot problem;
Avast aswMBR detected, says it cleaned, but nasties always returned upon reboot;
McAfee Stinger standalone also wasn't tough enough;
IOBit Advance System Care 4 cleaned some but didn't solve underlying problem;
only Dr Web Cureit! took care of the MBR and backdoor virus/trojans. -
"Very good antivirus software"

Cons

Summary
This is the best free software to clean your pc from viruses, adware and malware. I use it once a week and I like to see when it kills some viruses I grabbed.

"It stopped Antivirus Monitor from taking over my system"
Version: Dr.Web CureIt 6.0
Pros
It worked to stop the awful thing that calls itself AntiVirus Monitor. I tried adaware, malwarbytes and some others. I finally downloaded the trial version of this program and it stopped the madness
Cons
UNBELIEVABLY SLOW SCANNING on full scan. It's been over 24 hours and it is still scanning my computer.
Summary
If you want to stop that awful thing called Antivirus Monitor that takes over your computer I recommend downloading and using this product. But you must have the patience of a saint because the full scan is one of the slowest things I have ever run across in my entire life.
