Reasonably inventive and mildly addictive, this Tetris take-off ought to interest recovering Tetris addicts. In Downfall--as in Tetris--multicolored blocks drop from the top of the screen. You try to line up three or more like-colored block segments to remove them from the board and score points. The twist is that instead of spinning the block, as in Tetris, you cycle the block's colored segments to line them up with their fellows. Sometimes you also get a bonus, such as a brick with a bomb in it, which destroys its neighbors.

The graphics are acceptable, though not flashy, but have a couple distracting quirks. When you line up three segments of the same color, a 3D animation sends them flying toward you, occasionally obscuring your view of the board. Also, if you drop a line of three same-colored bricks onto the bottom of the game board, the entire well shakes. But these aren't major problems, and Tetris fans should enjoy this clever twist on the classic puzzle game.

Publisher's description

From Norbyte :

3D arcade puzzle game (similar to Bloxter and other falling-blocks games). It features real-time 3D graphics and lots of different boards to play. All boards have special blocks like indestructibles, dynamite sticks, snow shovels, and wrecking balls. Another cool feature is the import-export highscores, which lets you swap highscores with your friends. When importing, Downfall merges the highscores together, keeping the best ones. The game is easy to learn. You just drop stacks with colored blocks to form lines that will react and disappear, to score points. Keep in mind that each board requires its own tactics and skills to master.
