Version: DoubleKiller 1.6.2
Pros: Does just what it says on the tin, with just enough safeguards in the form of filters and such to enable it to be used confidently, without becoming bogged down in continual confirmation messages.
Cons: Nothing wrong with this!

"Use this only if u know what u are doing"
Pros: Scans really fast and lists all the files
Cons: It doesnt tell u whether it is the files shown on the list is the duplicate file or real file or both, so it is risky. And for me, Im going to uninstall it now.

"advanced or not, look out...."
Pros: it's free and ok for pic files, has extensive help...BUT...read the cons.
Cons: I don't recommend this for cleaning C:\, "which dupekiller doesn't either unless advanced," of dupes if you're advanced or not. If you are an advanced user who knows the files, then you would simply know to leave the files alone that dupekiller finds so it would be of little use. Most of the files that it found were not the same date, or checksums and had different extensions even though selected, but still picked as dupes. It seemed to go mostly by names no matter what options you choose. By the way, i picked MyDocuments along with scan sub folders, ... i purposly put dupes in my folders, all over them. Guess what,dupekiller didn't find anything, until i scanned the specific folder. Which i can't scan say, my folder,"clouds" if "Mydocuments" is in the list. It tells me i would have already scanned this if the "scan subfolders" is selected. Which of course with my experiment, i know to be false because it didn't do it's job. Also, in one pic folder, "Ancients", it picked one pic and one ico file, i still had to manually go through and make sure the files were right so i found myself asking just what good this program is. This would make a great "file finder", due to it's quickness of finding the files, not dupefinder.

Pros: I downloaded the top 4 ranked duplicate file search prg's from download.com, configured them all the same, & let them rip thru 200GB of media and clocked their time. Found this little utility to be 25-45% faster than the other 3 tested.
Very simple interface w/ little frills, but that could possibly contribute to it's search efficiency. If you have a bunch of duplicates (like I did), it takes a little time to manually select all the duplicates you wish to delete. Nonetheless, this is time typically required with any duplicate file search prg & the only way to avoid deleting files which weren't intended.
I found the the "Check the First Dupes" / "Check the Last Dupes" option a huge timesaver. Instead on manually selecting all of the files to delete, this allowed me just to double check the selected items.
Overall, good program.
